THE DDAA IS A MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION THAT WORKS TO STRENGTHEN LOCAL UNITS OF GOVERNMENT THROUGH THEIR MEMBERSHIP AND PARTICIPATION IN DEVELOPMENT DISTRICTS, ENHANCE THE ROLE OF DEVELOPMENT DISTRICTS AS A MECHANISM FOR COOPERATIVELY SEEKING SOLUTIONS TO COMMON PROBLEMS, AND TO PROMOTE THE EXTENSION, DEVELOPMENT, AND FULLEST UTILIZATION OF THE MULTIJURISDICTIONAL, UMBRELLA SUB-STATE DISTRICT ROLE IN THE FEDERAL-STATE-LOCAL PARTNERSHIP.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE - THE DDAA ANNUAL CONFERENCE, HELD IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS WITH SUPPORT FROM THE APPALACHIAN REGIONAL COMMISSION, IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR LOCAL DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT STAFF AND LEADERSHIP TO MEET WITH PEERS, LEARN ABOUT KEY POLICY UPDATES, AND SHARE BEST PRACTICES IN COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
TRAINING AND EDUCATION - DDAA OFFERS TRAININGS ON TOPICS INCLUDING HUMAN RESOURCES, DATA VISUALIZATION, GRANT WRITING, AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE - DDAA DELIVERS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND RESEARCH SUPPORT TO MEMBERS WITH SUPPORT FROM THE APPALACHIAN REGIONAL COMMISSION ON PROJECTS INCLUDING "BUILDING A RECOVERY-TO-WORK ECOSYSTEM AND THE "COMMUNITY CAPACITY-BUILDING PILOT PROGRAM".
