HUMAN RIGHTS FOR KIDS IS AN INTERNATIONAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THE PROMOTION AND PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS FOR CHILDREN. WE USE AN INTEGRATED, MULTI-FACETED APPROACH WHICH CONSISTS OF RESEARCH & PUBLIC EDUCATION, COALITION BUILDING & GRASSROOTS MOBILIZATION, AND POLICY ADVOCACY & STRATEGIC LITIGATION TO ADVANCE CRITICAL HUMAN RIGHTS ON BEHALF OF CHILDREN IN THE UNITED STATES AND AROUND THE WORLD. OUR WORK CONSISTS OF: (1) PROTECTING CHILDREN FROM HARM; (2) REFORMING JUSTICE SYSTEMS TO ENSURE WE FOCUS ON REHABILITATING CHILDREN WHO COME INTO CONFLICT WITH THE LAW; (3) PROTECTING IMMIGRANT, NON-NATIVE CHILDREN FROM HARM AND DISCRIMINATION; (4) PROMOTING ACCESS TO QUALITY EDUCATION FOR ALL CHILDREN; AND (5) PROMOTING HEALTHY COMMUNITIES FOR CHILDREN TO ENSURE ACCESS TO HOUSING AND HEALTH CARE.

ADVOCACY - WE ADVOCATE FOR POLICIES THAT ADVANCE CHILDREN'S RIGHTS & ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE U.N. CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD. OUR FOCUS IS ON PROTECTING CHILDREN FROM HARM (ABUSE AND EXPLOITATION) AND REFORMING THE WAY THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM TREATS CHILDREN WHO COME INTO CONFLICT WITH THE LAW.


STRATEGIC LITIGATION - WE ENGAGE IN AND SUPPORT STRATEGIC LITIGATION TO BRING ABOUT LASTING LEGAL REFORMS ON BEHALF OF CHILDREN THROUGH THE COURT SYSTEMS. OUR WORK PRIMARILY FOCUSES ON SUBMITTED AMICUS BRIEFS IN FEDERAL AND STATE COURTS OF APPEAL IN CASES IMPACTING HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTIONS FOR CHILDREN IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM.


PUBLIC EDUCATION - AFTER DOCUMENTING AND REPORTING HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES AGAINST CHILDREN, AND DEVELOPING APPROPRIATE POLICY RESPONSES, WE EDUCATE THE PUBLIC TO RAISE THE PROFILE OF THESE ISSUES BY SPEAKING WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS, THE MEDIA, POLICYMAKERS, AND OTHER ADVOCATES. WE PUBLISH OP-EDS, ACADEMIC ARTICLES, & REPORTS TO THIS END AS WELL.
