THE GUARDIAN PROJECT SUPPORTS LEADERSHIP AND COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE DES MOINES POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE PEOPLE IT SERVES.

GUARDIAN PROJECT-IOWA SUPPORTS VARIOUS PROGRAMS IN DES MOINES IN ORDER TO BUILD POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE COMMUNITY AND THE DES MOINES POLICE DEPARTMENT. WE HAVE SPEARHEADED INVESTING IN FACILITATING ONGOING PROGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS AT EVELYN DAVIS PARK IN THE URBAN CORE OF DES MOINES. THAT PROGRAMMING INCLUDES DAILY EDUCATIONAL, ARTS AND CRAFTS AND STEM ACTIVITIES, FREE SWIMMING LESSONS, ENRICHMENT FIELD TRIPS AND FIVE SPORTS CLINICS. WE HAVE ALSO LAUNCHED A DES MOINES CITY PROGRAM THAT SUPPLIED INFORMATIVE CARDS THAT HAD A FREE OFFER DONATED BY LOCAL BUSINESSES SO THAT OFFICERS COULD ENGAGE IN CONVERSATIONS WITH YOUNGER PEOPLE.


GUARDIAN PROJECT-IOWA WORKS TO INCREASE SAFETY IN THE DES MOINES COMMUNITY. WE HAVE HELPED SECURE THE FUNDING TO HELP INITIALLY EQUIP THE OVER 300 OFFICERS IN THE DES MOINES POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH BODY CAMERAS, AND CAMERAS FOR THE PATROL CARS AND STORAGE AS WELL. WE HAVE ALSO BEEN AN ONGOING SUPPORTER OF URBAN DREAMS' WINTER CAR CHECKUP WHICH PROVIDES FREE SAFETY CHECKS FOR HUNDREDS OF RESIDENTS' CARS INCLUDING FREE WIPER BLADES AND LIGHT BULBS, CHECKING TIRES, TOPPING OFF FLUIDS AND DOING CAR SEAT CHECKS.


GUARDIAN PROJECT-IOWA WORKS WITH FLYNN WRIGHT TO CREATE A WEBSITE AND USE OTHER PROMOTIONAL EFFORTS TO BUILD POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE COMMUNITY AND THE DES MOINES POLICE DEPARTMENT.
