MATE II IS FORMED TO INSPIRE AND CHALLENGE STUDENTS TO LEARN AND CREATIVELY APPLY SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ART, ENGINEERING AND MATH TO SOLVING REAL-WORLD PROBLEMS IN A WAY THAT STRENGTHENS CRITICAL THINKING, COLLABORATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, AND INNOVATION.

THE MATE II WORLD ROV (REMOTELY OPERATED VEHICLE OR UNDERWATER ROBOT) COMPETITION CHALLENGES STUDENTS TO LEARN AND CREATIVELY APPLY STEM SKILLS TO SOLVE REAL-WORLD PROBLEMS AND STRENGTHEN THEIR CRITICAL THINKING, COLLABORATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, AND INNOVATION. EACH SPRING, MORE THAN 6,000 STUDENTS IN GRADES 4-16 PARTICIPATE IN ONE OF 46 REGIONAL EVENTS AROUND THE WORLD(WWW.MATEROVCOMPETITION.ORG) AND FEED INTO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WHICH WAS HELD IN JUNE 2022. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO CONDUCTS SUMMER CAMPS AND TEACHER WORKSHOPS TO PROVIDE TRAINING FOR COMPETITION PARTICIPANTS. THE ORGANIZATION RUNS AN ONLINE ENTERPRISE, THE SEAMATE STORE WHICH SELLS EDUCATIONAL REMOTELY OPERATED VEHICLE KITS AND PARTS TO COMPETITION PARTICIPANTS AND OTHERS. THE STORE FULFILLED 1,047 ORDERS FROM 335 CUSTOMERS.
