GS ACTION GIVES MARGINALIZED YOUNG PEOPLE A SEAT AT THE TABLE OF DEMOCRACY THROUGH ELECTORAL ACTION, HANDS-ON ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION, AND CIVIC MEDIA PROGRAMS. WE ENVISION A GEORGIA WHERE MARGINALIZED YOUNG PEOPLE OF COLOR ARE THE FUNDAMENTAL DRIVER OF POLITICAL IMPACT AND PUBLIC POLICY AT EVERY LEVEL OF GOVERNMENT IN AN UNBRIDLED DEMOCRACY. OUR OFFICE IS BASED IN AUGUSTA, GEORGIA ORGANIZING SURROUNDING RURAL AREAS IN-PERSON AND STATEWIDE THROUGH DIGITAL ORGANIZING. WE ARE THE ONLY ORGANIZATION TRULY BASED IN THIS REGION THAT SERVES AS A POLITICAL HOME TO YOUNG PEOPLE OF COLOR YEAR-ROUND. ALL OUR PERMANENT STAFF ARE YOUNG PEOPLE OF COLOR, ROOTED IN THE BROADER AUGUSTA AREA.

A NEW DA FOR A NEW DECADE (INCLUDES GENERAL ELECTION GOTV): THE AUGUSTA AREA HAD THE FIRST COMPETITIVE DISTRICT ATTORNEY RACE IN ALMOST 10 YEARS, PROVIDING A CRITICAL INFLECTION POINT TO CHAMPION STRUCTURAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM AND MOUNT AN AGGRESSIVE GOTV CAMPAIGN. THROUGH GS ACTION, OUR MESSAGING HELPED EDUCATE YOUNG VOTERS AS TO THE ROLE OF A DISTRICT ATTORNEY IN OUR SYSTEM, AND WHAT POLICIES CAN BE IMPACTED BY THE OUTCOME OF AN ELECTION FOR THAT POSITION. GS ACTION'S VOTER TURNOUT PROGRAMMING INCLUDED DIRECT MAIL AND DIGITAL ADVERTISING EFFORTS CENTERED ON THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PRIORITIES OF YOUNG PEOPLE ACROSS THE REGION. GS ACTION ALSO SENT TEXTS TO VOTERS AS PART OF AN ABSENTEE BALLOT CHASE PROGRAM.RUNOFF GOTV: OUR RUNOFF ELECTION GET OUT THE VOTE PROGRAMMING SUCCESSFULLY USED PEER-TO-PEER TEXTBANKING, AND IN PERSON CANVASSING, AS WELL AS DIGITAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS TO HELP REACH OUR CONSTITUENT VOTERS OF COLOR BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18-35 AND GET THEM TO THE POLLS.


LOCAL ORGANIZING BUILT TO SCALE: OUR LOCAL ORGANIZING BUILT TO SCALE PROGRAM AIMS TO CREATE A CONSISTENT AND ROBUST BASE-BUILDING AND ACCOUNTABILITY MODEL OUTSIDE THE METRO ATLANTA AREA WITH THE BLUEPRINT TO SCALE STATEWIDE. OUR VISION FOR THIS MODEL IS AN EQUITABLE PROCESS WHERE YOUNG PEOPLE DECIDE ON THE ISSUES THEY WANT TO FIGHT FOR, CREATING A CLEAR AND ACHIEVABLE AGENDA THAT REFLECTS THEIR VALUES. THE BASE WE'RE BUILDING WILL HOLD ELECTED OFFICIALS AND CANDIDATES FOR OFFICE ACCOUNTABLE IN EVERY ELECTION, MAKING SURE THAT THEY KNOW THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN GET ELECTED IS THROUGH THE VOTES OF YOUNG PEOPLE OF COLOR.
