THIS NON-PROFIT WAS ESTABLISHED IN APRIL OF 2016 TO PROVIDE A DEDICATED PLATFORM FOR A VITA (VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE) PROGRAM THAT HAD BEEN OPERATING AS A PROGRAM UNDER ANOTHER NON-PROFIT SINCE 2006. SINCE 2006 AND AS OF TAX SEASON 2023, OUR VITA PROGRAM HAS PROVIDED FREE TAX SERVICES TO 60,727 HAWAII RESIDENTS SAVING THEM APPROXIMATELY $15.1 MILLION IN TAX PREPARATION FEES AND HELPING THEM CLAIM $131.4 MILLION IN REFUNDS AND REFUNDABLE TAX CREDITS. PROGRAM SERVICE EXPENSES LISTED DO NOT INCLUDE ITEMS SUCH AS SALARY AND BENEFITS OR EXPENSES PERTAINING TO THE NON-PROFIT (VS. DIRECT PROGRAM EXPENSES) SUCH AS INSURANCE COSTS, FEES OR BOOKKEEPING SOFTWARE.
