Part 3 - Line 4a
STATEWIDE NETWORK OF PARENT TRAINING AND INFORMATION CENTERS, US DOE, GRANTS (PATH, PEN, TEAM & PACT PROJECTS). PURPOSE: PROVIDE TRAINING, INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, SUPPORT, EDUCATION AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO PARENTS OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS WITH ALL TYPES OF DISABILITIES IN TEXAS AND TO THOSE WHO HELP THEM. APPROXIMATELY 78,100 UNITS OF SEVICE (TELPHONE CALLS, EMAILS, MEETINGS, TRAININGS). 200,000 WEBSITE VISITORS, 10,000 NEWSLETTERS, 40 PARENT VOLUNTEERS TRAINED AS PARENT PARTNERS, NUMEROUS LISTSERVS AND EXHIBITS, AND SMALL GRANTS TO COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. APPROXIMATELY 60% OF PARTICIPANTS WERE FROM TRADITIONALLY UNDER SERVED POPULATIONS. OUTCOME SURVEYS INDICATE THAT 85-95 OF PARTICIPANTS INDICATED THAT THEY WERE BETTER ABLE TO WORK WITH THEIR SCHOOLS, TO MAKE DECISIONS REGARDING THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION AND WERE MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS.
