HOUSTON INTERNATIONAL DANCE COALITION'S PRIMARY ACTIVITY IS DANCE SALAD FESTIVAL, AN INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED, WEEKLONG FESTIVAL THAT INVIGORATES HOUSTON'S DIVERSE CULTURAL COMMUNITY WITH INTERNATIONAL, NATIONAL, AND REGIONAL DANCE AS WELL AS OUTREACH PROGRAMS. CAPTURING HOUSTON'S SPIRIT OF INTERNATIONALISM, DANCE SALAD FESTIVAL (DSF) CELEBRATES THE DIVERSITY OF CULTURES THAT RESIDE IN HOUSTON AND PROMOTES THE EXPERIENCE OF OTHER CULTURES THROUGH THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE OF DANCE. WITH LOCAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PRESS COVERAGE, PLUS SUPPORT AND RECOGNITION FROM THE CONSULAR CORPS, DSF EXPANDS HOUSTON'S CULTURAL REACH. DSF IMPACTS TOURISM, ATTRACTING REGIONAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL VISITORS. SINCE 1992, DSF HAS SHOWCASED ALL KINDS OF DANCE, FROM THE PRECISE MOVEMENTS OF CONTEMPORARY CLASSICAL BALLET, AND THE POETIC SENSITIVITY OF ASIAN DANCE, TO THE PRIMAL RHYTHMS OF MODERN AFRICAN DANCE. THIS WEEKLONG FESTIVAL INVIGORATES THE DANCE COMMUNITY. DANCERS, CHOREOGRAPHERS, DANCE COMPANIES, AND DANCE AUDIENCES CAN SEE THE BEST OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE, BE EXPOSED TO LEADING CONTEMPORARY CHOREOGRAPHY, LEARN FROM AND INTERACT WITH RENOWNED FIGURES IN THE WORLD OF DANCE. JUST AS MUSEUMS EXHIBIT ART CAREFULLY CHOSEN BY A CURATOR, DSF IS UNIQUELY "CURATED" BY ITS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, WHO SELECTS THE BEST ARTISTIC DANCE TALENT WORLDWIDE. APPEALING TO A BROAD AUDIENCE, DANCE SALAD FESTIVAL INCLUDES 3 CURATED EVENTS AT THE WORTHAM CENTER, IN 2017 A WORLD PREMIER AT THE MENIL COLLECTION, PLUS EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS INCLUDING CLASSES, A YOUTH PROGRAM, A CHOREOGRAPHER'S FORUM WITH THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS, HOUSTON AND A TOURING VIDEO.
