KIDS-U, FORMERLY DALLAS COMMUNITY LIGHTHOUSE - THE MISSION OF THIS ORGANIZATION IS ASSISTING AT-RISK YOUTHS IN DISCOVERING PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS BY CONCENTRATING ON THEIR SOCIAL, EDUCATIONAL, PERSONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. ALTRUSA SPONSORED A MOTHER'S DAY PARTY FOR CHILDREN WHO MET EDUCATIONAL GOALS TO SHOP FOR THEIR MOTHERS FOR MOTHER'S DAY.


SHARED HOUSING CENTER, INC.---THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION HAS BEEN TO OFFER HOUSING OPTIONS AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES THAT FOSTER INDEPENDENCE, EMPOWERMENT, AND SELF-WORTH AND TO SERVE A MULTI CULTURAL, INTERGENERATIONAL POPULATION. FUNDING WAS PROVIDED TO PURCHASE A PRINTER/COPIER FOR THE MAIN OFFICE. THANKSGIVING GIFT BASKETS COLLECTED BY OTHER AGENCIES WERE DELIVERED BY ALTRUSANS TO FAMILIES BEING SERVED BY SHARED HOUSING.HUMAN RIGHTS INITIATIVE INC. - THIS ORGANIZATION OFFERS FREE LEGAL REPRESENTATION TO IMMIGRANT SURVIVORS OF HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES EITHER INTERNATIONALLY OR DOMESTICALLY. FUNDS WERE USED TO PURCHASE BOOKS IN SEVERAL LANGUAGES FOR THE FAMILY READING AREA OF THE DALLAS FACILITY.DOLPHIN HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION - THIS ORGANIZATION IS COMPOSED OF INDIVIDUALS WHO LIVE IN OR ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE DOLPHIN HEIGHTS AREA OF DALLAS. THESE INDIVIDUALS WORK TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE A SHARED VISION OF A CRIME, DRUG, AND GANG FREE DOLPHIN HEIGHTS. THE PURPOSE IS TO ACT AS A COMMUNITY CONNECTION THAT WILL: REVITALIZE THE NEIGHBORHOOD, INSTILL A STRONG SENSE OF COMMUNITY PRIDE AND TOGETHERNESS, SEEK A HIGHER STANDARD OF SAFETY, AND PROMOTE LEADERSHIP AND EDUCATION. FUNDS WERE USED TO PURCHASE BACKPACKS FOR NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN.MEALS ON WHEELS DALLAS COUNTY - THIS ORGANIZATION PROVIDES HOT MEALS TO HOME-BOUND ELDERLY INDIVIDUALS. FUNDS WERE USED TO CREATE VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS FOR MEAL RECIPIENTS.


FOUNDATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG WOMEN - THIS ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS SINGLE GENDER EDUCATION FOR ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED GIRLS THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH TARGETED PUBLIC SCHOOLS LOCATED PRIMARILY IN LARGE TEXAS METROPOLITAN AREAS. FUNDS WERE USED FOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GRADUATING SENIORS AT IRMA RANGEL YOUNG WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP ACADEMY IN DALLAS. REVENUE WAS RAISED PRIMARILY FROM ONE DONOR WHO REQUESTED THAT SCHOLARSHIPS BE FUNDED OVER A 7-10 YEAR PERIOD OUT OF THE GIFT. EXPENSES ARE RELATED TO A VOLUNTEER PROJECT CONDUCTED WITH STUDENTS TO CREATE HANDMADE HOLIDAY GIFTS FOR DALLAS COUNTY MEALS ON WHEELS RECIPIENTS.


DALLAS BAR FOUNDATION--PROVIDES DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS AT SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW.
