TO SUPPORT THE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES OF METHODIST MEDICAL CENTER THROUGH CHARITABLE GIFTS.

THE HOSPITALITY HOUSES OF METHODIST MEDICAL CENTER PROVIDE TEMPORARY LODGING FOR PATIENTS AND FAMILIES WHO MUST TRAVEL LONG DISTANCES FOR TREATMENT AT METHODIST MEDICAL CENTER OR THOMPSON CANCER SURVIVAL CENTER AT MMC. THE THREE HOMES OFFER 12 FULLY FURNISHED APARTMENTS; SHARED KITCHEN, DINING, LAUNDRY AND FAMILY ROOMS; STOCKED PANTRIES; TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE AS NEEDED; AND FREE PARKING. THE PROGRAM IS SUPPORTED ENTIRELY BY CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS.GUESTS OF THE HOSPITALITY HOUSES STAY AS LONG AS THEY NEED, FREE OF CHARGE. SINCE THE FIRST HOUSE OPENED IN 1997, THOUSANDS OF GUESTS HAVE RECEIVED LODGING. IN 2022, THE HOUSES SERVED 113 GUESTS AND PROVIDED 1,994 NIGHTS OF STAY FOR PATIENTS AND FAMILIES RECEIVING CANCER TREATMENT, ICU/CCU CARE, AND WOUND CARE AT MMC. BASED ON STANDARD LOCAL HOTEL RATES, THE VALUE OF THE FREE LODGING RECEIVED BY THESE GUESTS WAS $239,280.


OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDE PROVIDING FUNDING FOR THE FAMILY BIRTHING CENTER.


CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE COVENANT HEALTH'S ANNUAL EMPLOYEE GIVING CAMPAIGN SUPPORT THE JACK SILLS CHAPLAIN'S BENEVOLENCE FUND AT METHODIST MEDICAL CENTER THAT PROVIDES EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FOR EMPLOYEES, PATIENTS, AND PATIENT FAMILIES IN TIMES OF CRISIS. IN 2022, THE FUND ASSISTED 168 PATIENTS AND 46 EMPLOYEES WITH EMERGENCY AID FOR FOOD, HOUSING, TRANSPORTATION, MEDICATIONS/MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, FUNERAL EXPENSES, AND UTILITIES.


MMC FOUNDATION FUNDED CONTINUING EDUCATION AND ADVANCED CERTIFICATIONS FOR STAFF IN THE OUTPATIENT PHYSICAL THERAPY CLINIC, INCLUDING DRY NEEDLING THERAPY TRAINING AND LYMPHEDEMA THERAPY CERTIFICATION.
