THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO ADVANCE THE CAUSE OF MUSIC EDUCATION THROUGHOUT THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY BY ENCOURAGING THE STUDY AND MAKING OF MUSIC BY ALL OF THE POPULATION AND BY SERVING AS A STRONG ADVOCATE FOR ISSUES AFFECTING THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THAT MISSION. KMEA ORGANIZES AND PRODUCES A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES WHICH INCLUDE THE MUSIC EDUCATION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE, PERFORMENCE ASSESSMENT EVENTS FOR MARCHING BANDS, CONCERT CHOIRS, BANDS, ORCHESTRAS, SOLOS, AND ENSEMBLES, AND THE QUARTERLY PUBLICATION OF THE BLUEGRASS MUSIC NEWS.

THE GATHERING OF MEMBERS OF KMEA TO LEARN ADDITIONAL TECHNIQUES FOR TEACHING AND PROMOTING MUSIC EDUCATION, ORGANIZING VENUES FOR YOUNG INDIVIDUAL MUSICIANS, CHOIRS, BANDS, AND ORCHESTRAS TO PROMOTE MUSIC EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT.
