MEMBER SERVICES- THE VOLUNTARY MEMBERS OF THE LOUISVILLE BAR ASSOCIATION ARE OVER 2,800 STRONG AND THE ASSOCIATION IS AMONG THE 40 LARGEST LOCAL BARS IN THE COUNTRY. 49% OF JEFFERSON COUNTY, KENTUCKY, ATTORNEYS ARE MEMBERS AS WELL AS 20% OF KENTUCKY ATTORNEYS. THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS TO JOIN ANY OF THE 20 SECTIONS, WHICH OFFER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INTERACTION WITH COLLEAGUES WHO PRACTICE IN THE SAME FIELD.


PUBLICATIONS- THE ASSOCIATION'S PUBLICATIONS INCLUDE BAR BRIEFS, A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER WHICH PROVIDES NEWS AND INFORMATION TO MEMBERS ABOUT THE LEGAL PROFESSION, UPCOMING CLE PROGRAMS, BENEFITS, SECTION MEETINGS AND OTHER LAW-RELATED ACTIVITIES. ALSO PUBLISHED IS THE ANNUAL PICTORIAL ROSTER, A PHOTO DIRECTORY OF MEMBERS WHICH IS AN INVALUABLE GUIDE FOR LOCAL ATTORNEYS AND THEIR STAFF.


CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION (CLE)- THE ASSOCIATION IS A LEADING CLE PROVIDER PRESENTING APPROXIMATELY 70 SEMINARS ANNUALLY. THE LEADERSHIP OF THE ASSOCIATION'S 20 SECTIONS WORKS CLOSELY WITH THE CLE DEPARTMENT TO IDENTIFY BOTH TOPICS AND SPEAKERS FOR MANY OF THE PROGRAMS HOSTED EACH YEAR.

PURPOSE: The Summer Law Institute is a partnership of the LBA, the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and Bellarmine University. The program provides high school students with an opportunity to interact with prominent local attorneys, judges and professors. It is designed to attract talented, ambitious students who are interested in a career in the legal profession. The LBF grant monies will cover a portion of the direct costs of the program, thereby keeping the tuition affordable.
