TO UPHOLD AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTIONS OF THE UNITED STATED & THE STATE OF MISSOURI; ADVANCE THE SCIENCE OF JURISPRUDENCE; UPHOLD THE HONOR OF THE LEGAL PROFESSION; TO PRESERVE THE ADVERSARY SYSTEM & RIGHT TO TRIAL BY JURY; TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS & PUBLISH LEGAL PERIODICALS TO EDUCATE ITS MEMBERS, JUDGES, AND ATTORNEYS.

LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM - THE MISSOURI ASSOCIATION OF TRIAL ATTORNEYS REVIEWED ALL LEGISLATIVE BILLS INTRODUCED IN THE MISSOURI GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND MONITORED BILLS DETERMINED TO BE OF INTEREST TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION AND THEIR CLIENTS. MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION, STAFF AND CONSULTANTS TESTIFIED AND/OR LOBBIED FOR OR AGAINST PROPOSED LEGISLATION RELATING TO THE CIVIL JUSTICE SYSTEM, THE RIGHT TO TRIAL BY JURY, AND INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. BY PROVIDING ISSUE BRIEFS, TESTIMONY, AND CONSULTATION REGARDING IDENTIFIED ISSUES, THE ASSOCIATION WAS SUCCESSFUL IN STOPPING OR AMENDING PROPOSED LEGISLATION WITH POTENTIAL TO RESTRICT OR LIMIT THE RIGHTS OF INDIVIDUALS AND/OR THE BENEFITS OF THE CIVIL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND RIGHT TO TRIAL BY JURY.


CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION AND ANNUAL CONVENTION - THE MISSOURI ASSOCIATION OF TRIAL ATTORNEYS PRESENTED AN ANNUAL CONVENTION FEATURING CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION SEMINARS AND OFFERED 68 INTERACTIVE/LIVE TELE-CONFERENCE SEMINARS VIA THE INTERNET ON TOPICS OF INTEREST TO MEMBERS OF THE TRIAL BAR. THE SEMINARS OFFERED PROGRAMS FOR MEMBERS TO EARN REQUIRED CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION CREDITS AND TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE OF NEW TECHNOLOGY AND SKILLS IN THE ART OF ADVOCACY TO HELP THEM BETTER SERVE THEIR CLIENTS. PRESENTATION OF SEMINARS VIA THE INTERNET ALLOWED MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN LIVE SEMINARS FROM THEIR OFFICES WHICH REDUCE THE TIME REQUIRED TO ATTEND SEMINARS IN LOCATIONS AROUND THE STATE, THUS ENABLING THEM TO HAVE ADDITIONAL TIME TO SERVE THEIR CLIENTS AND REDUCE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH COMPLYING WITH THE MANDATORY CLE REQUIREMENTS TO MAINTAIN THEIR LICENSE TO PRACTICE LAW. INTERACTIVE TELECONFERENCE SEMINARS PRESENTED MEMBERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN SKILS FROM NATIONAL, STATE AND REGIONAL SPEAKERS. A TOTAL OF 769 MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN THE SEMINARS.


MAGAZINE - THE MISSOURI ASSOCIATION OF TRIAL ATTORNEYS PUBLISHED A QUARTERLY MAGAZINE DIRECTED TO THE EDUCATION OF ITS MEMBERS AS WELL AS JUDGES AND LAWYERS GENERALLY. THE MISSOURI TRIAL ATTORNEY MAGAZINE PRESENTS ARTICLES WRITTEN BY TRIAL LAWYERS DIRECTED TO THE TEACHING OF TORT LAW, WORKER'S COMPENSATION, AND OTHER ASPECTS OF THE LAW PERTAINING TO THE PROTECTION OF THE CIVIL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND ADVANCING THE INTERESTS AND PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF INDIVIDUALS. THE MAGAZINE INCLUDES ADVERTISEMENT OF PRODUCTS AND SERVICES AVAILABLE TO THE LEGAL COMMUNITY AND TRIAL BAR TO ASSIST MEMBERS IN BETTER SERVING THEIR CLIENTS.
