ROLLING READERS HAS BEEN SHARING THE JOY OF READING WITH BREVARD COUNTY CHILDREN SINCE 1997. OUR MISSION IS TO DEVELOP IN CHIDREN A DESIRE TO BE LIFELONG READERS. RESEARCH SHOWS READING SKILLS ARE THE FOUNDATION NEEDED TO HELP CHILDREN ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN EDUCATION AND IN LIFE. WITH CLOSE TO 50 VOLUNTEERS DURING 2021-2022, WE PROVIDED WEEKLY READ ALOUD SESSIONS IN CLASSROOMS (PRE-KINDERGRTEN THROUGH FIFTH GRADE), AND TUTOR/MENTOR SERVICES FOR STRUGGLING SECOND AND THIRD GRADE READERS. DURING THE 2021- 2022 SCHOOL YEAR, WE REACHED OUT TO 233 STUDENTS IN 12 CLASSROOMS AT 3 BREVARD COUNTY TITLE I SCHOOLS THROUGH OUR READ ALOUD PROGRAM,TUTOR/MENTOR READING SKILLS PROGRAM, AND GRADE LEVEL READING INTERVENTION PROGRAM. IN MARCH, EACH CHILD PARTICIPATING IN ONE OF OUR PROGRAMS RECEIVED A HARD COVER BOOK AS A GIFT. FOR SOME, THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK THEY CAN CALL THEIR OWN. CLASSROOM TEACHERS ALSO RECEIVE A GIFT BOOK FOR THEIR CLASSROOM LIBRARY.
