TO PROVIDE LEGAL SERVICES TO RESIDENTS OF LEE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHO MEET OUR FINANCIAL GUIDELINES. WE PROVIDE LEGAL SERVICES IN THE AREA OF FAMILY LAW, INCLUDING DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE, PATERNITY, ESTABLISHING PARENTING PLANS, AND STEP-PARENT ADOPTION.

LEE COUNTY LEGAL AID SOCIETY PROVIDED LEGAL REPRESENTATION FOR QUALIFIED RESIDENTS OF LEE COUNTY, FLORIDA, INVOLVING DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE, PATERNITY, CHILD SUPPORT, ESTABLISHING PARENTING PLANS, AND STEPPARENT ADOPTION. IN ADDITION TO CASES WORKED AT LEE COUNTY LEGAL AID SOCIETY, BETWEEN 07/01/2020 AND 06/30/2021, OUR ATTORNEYS PROVIDED FREE LIMITED LEGAL ADVICE TO 446 CUSTOMERS IN THE SELF-HELP CENTER FOR LEE CLERK OF COURT, DURING ONE AFTERNOON EACH WEEK FOR 4 HOURS. VOLUNTEER ATTORNEYS FROM OUR ORGANIZATION, ALONG WITH A GROUP OF OTHER VOLUNTEER ATTORNEYS WE SOLICIT TO PARTICIPATE WITH US, PROVIDE PRO BONO COUNSEL TO CITIZENS OF LEE COUNTY ON A WIDE VARIETY OF LEGAL ISSUES. THIS PUBLIC SERVICE PROVIDES VALUABLE LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO PERSONS WHO WISH TO REPRESENT THEMSELVES PRO SE IN OUR COURT SYSTEM. WE COLLABORATED WITH ANOTHER UNITED WAY PARTNER AGENCY, CAF OF LIFE, TO BEGIN PROVIDING FREE LEGAL ADVICE TO QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS IN THE BONITA SPRINGS AREA, WITH PLANS TO START IN THE FOLLOWING FISCAL YEAR. CLES & FUNDRAISING EVENTS WERE CANCELED IN FYE 2021. THIS WAS DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERNS. HOWEVER, ONE FREE CLE WAS PRESENTED THROUGH OUR ORGANIZATION AS A LEGAL COMMUNITY SERVICE AND PRESENTERS WERE LEE COUNTY COURT JUDGES, ALLOWING ATTENDANCE VIA ZOOM MEETING OR IN-PERSON WITH FACE MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES STRICTLY ADHERED TO: "COUNTY COURT LITIGATION IN THE AGE OF COVID."
