RAKSHA - MEANING "PROTECTION" IN SERVERAL SOUTH ASIAN LANGUAGES - IS A GEORGIA-BASED NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION FOR THE SOUTH ASIAN COMMUNITY. RAKSHA'S MISSION IS TO PROMOTE A STRONGER AND HEALTHIER SOUTH ASIAN COMMUNITY THROUGH CONFIDENTIAL SUPPORT SERVICES, EDUCATION, AND ADVOCACY. RAKSHA WORKS TOWARDS HEALING, EMPOWERMENT, AND JUSTICE FOR SOUTH ASIAN SURVIVORS OF VIOLENCE.

RAKSHA, INC. PROVIDES FREE AND CONFIDENTIAL DIRECT SERVICES SUCH AS COUNSELING, CASE MANAGEMENT, INTERPRETATION, TRANSLATION, ADVOCACY, CAREER ASSISTANCE, AND OTHER SERVICES TO SOUTH ASIANS. RAKSHA, INC. SOCIAL SERVICES INCLUDE FACE TO FACE COUNSELING, TELEPHONE COUNSELING, FACILITATING AND HOSTING MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUPS, PROMOTING CULTURAL SENSITIVITY TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES, AND ADVOCACY FOR THE COMMUNITY'S OVERALL RIGHTS AND INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS THROUGH ACCESS TO SOCIAL SERVICES AND THE JUSTICE SYSTEM. DURING THE YEAR, THROUGH OUR COLLABORATIONS AND OUTREACH EFFORTS, RAKSHA:-PROVIDED 637 HOURS OF COUNSELING. -SERVED 516 CLIENTS IN 2021 WITH 339 NEW REQUESTS FOR HELP. -PROVIDED FINANCIAL 913 REQUESTS FOR CLIENT ASSISTANCE TO 117 CLIENTS. -PROVIDED OUTREACH/TRAINING VIA IN-PERSON, SOCIAL MEDIA, ONLINE EVENTS, AND PSA IN PRINT MEDIA BILLBOARD: MINIMUM 352,562.-PROVIDED INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT (TELEPHONE CONTACTS AND IN PERSON REFERRALS AND SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY): 15,573-PROVIDED LEGAL ADVOCACY (CIVIL, CRIMINAL AND IMMIGRATION): 677-PROVIDED 1,020 REQUESTS FOR LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE.
