MONTHLY LUNCHEON MEETINGS WERE HELD TO ENRICH MEMBERSHIP. DIFFERENT SPEAKERS PROVIDED VALUABLE INSIGHT TO THE MEMBERSHIP AT THE LUNCHEONS. THE MEMBERSHIP ALSO BENEFITED FROM THE ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY AND SEVERAL SOCIAL EVENTS SUCH AS ATLANTA UNITED WATCH PARTIES, WHERE THEY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET NEW MEMBERS, CURRENT MEMBERS, AND LOCAL LEADERS IN THE COMMUNITY. GCBA HAD OVER 200 ACTIVE MEMBERS DURING THE 2020-2021 BAR YEAR. THE GCBA CONTINUED OPERATING DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC. WE LIVESTREAMED MEETINGS OVER ZOOM. WE KEPT OUR MEMBERS UPDATED ON DEVELOPMENTS IN THE LEGAL COMMUNITY AS A RESPONSE TO THE PANDEMIC THROUGH OUR MONTHLY NEWSLETTERS. ON NOVEMBER 20, 2020, THE CRIMINAL DEFENSE SECTION HOSTED ITS ANNUAL TOY DRIVE, COLLECTING MONEY AND TOYS FOR SICK CHILDREN BENEFITTING CHILDRENS HOSPITALS OF ATLANTA. ON DECEMBER 4, 2020, THE GCBA HOSTED ITS ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY AT THE ATRIUM IN NORCROSS, GA. ON FEBRUARY 27, 2021, GCBA HOSTED ITS MEMBERS ON A CIVIL RIGHTS EXPERIENCE TO SELMA AND MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA TO LEARN ABOUT AND VISIT SIGNIFICANT LANDMARKS OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT. THE ASSOCIATION WAS HONORED BY THE GEORGIA BAR ASSOCIATION WITH THE BEST NEWSLETTER AWARD, AND BEST WEBSITE AWARD, BEST LAW DAY AWARD, AND THE AWARD OF MERIT, AT THE STATE BAR OF GEORGIA ANNUAL MEETING.
