GRANTS TO INDIVIDUALS TO SUPPORT THE PREVENTION AND THE AMELIORATION OF THE EFFECTS OF BIRTH DEFECTS AND CHILDHOOD DISEASES. PATIENT AIDE-SPECIFIC ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS FOR PATIENT CARE AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE FOR CHILDHOOD DISEASES AND BIRTH DEFECTS.

SINCE THE CHARITY'S FOUNDING IN 1987, IT HAS PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN LOCATED IN CHARLESTON, BERKELEY, DORCHESTER, AND COLLETON COUNTIES WITH BIRTH DEFECTS OR OTHER DISABLING DISEASES IN SERVICES TOTALING MORE THAN $4.5 MILLION. THESE RANGE FROM ASTHMA TO CEREBRAL PALSY, FROM JUVENILE DIABETES TO CANCER, AND MANY MORE IN BETWEEN. ALL GRANT RECIPIENTS MUST BE AGE 18 AND UNDER AND RESIDE WITHIN CHARLESTON, BERKELEY, DORCHESTER, AND COLLETON COUNTIES. CAROLINA CHILDREN'S CHARITY HAS PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO COVER THE COSTS OF SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, MEDICATIONS, MEDICALLY NECESSARY EVALUATION AND TESTING, AND MUCH MORE TO CHARLESTON, BERKELEY, DORCHESTER, AND COLLETON COUNTIES FAMILIES.
