Part 3
DURING THE YEAR, THE FRIENDS OF THE AIKEN COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM RAISED FUNDS IN A NUMBER OF WAYS: APPLYING FOR GRANTS, CONDUCTING FUND RAISERS SUCH AS THE HOLIDAY TEA AND TWO LECTURE SERIES, AND FROM MEMBERSHIP DUES AND DONATIONS. THESE FUNDS WERE USED IN LARGE PART TO UNDERWRITE THE MUSEUMS ONGOING PROGRAMS AND NEW EXHIBITS. AMONG THESE WAS RECOLLECTIONS: ORAL HISTORY PROGRAM, WHICH WAS SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED WITH A SERIES OF INTERVIEWS INCORPORATED INTO MUSEUM EXHIBITS. IN ADDITION, THE FRIENDS WERE AWARDED THE OPPORTUNITY TO HOST A TRAVELING SMITHSONIAN EXHIBIT AT THE MUSEUM, A PRIVILEGE AWARDED TO ONLY SIX SITES IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
