SPECIAL EVENTS, BUSINESS PROMOTION, BUSINESS STABILITYLOCALWORKS PARTICIPATED IN 10 CHALK OF THE TOWN INSTALLATIONS TO PROMOTE BOTH LOCAL ARTISTS AND BUSINESSES THAT HOSTED THE ART, 5 COMMUNITY CORRIDOR CLEAN UPS TO HELP FREE UP AND CLEAN COMMERCIAL SPACE WHERE HIGH FOOT TRAFFIC FOR BUSINESS OCCURS, INCLUDING AREAS SUCH AS KIPLING ST. AND ALONG I-70, AND FINALLY TWO MAJOR EVENTS THE RIDGE AT 38 CRITERIUM BIKE RACE AND TRUNK OR TREAT, GETTING RESIDENTS INTO DOWNTOWN WHEAT RIDGE TO CONNECT WITH ONE ANOTHER AND LOCAL BUSINESS.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, PROMOTION OF VOLUNTEERISM AND CLEANER COMMUNITIESLOCALWORKS PROVIDES BLOCK PARTY GRANTS, TLC CLEAN UP DAYS, NEIGHBORHOOD DUMPSTER GRANTS AND MOVIES IN THE PARK TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY, ENGAGEMENT, VOLUNTEERISM, WHILE PROMOTING CLEANER AND SAFER COMMUNITIES. THERE WERE 16 NEIGHBORHOOD DUMPSTER GRANTS THAT NEIGHBORS GATHERED AND FILLED DUMPSTERS WITH DEBRIS AND JUNK, COMING TOGETHER AND BEAUTIFYING THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD. THERE WERE FOUR TLC DUMPSTER DAYS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE POLICE DEPARTMENT, 8 BLOCK PARTY GRANTS UP TO $150 EACH TO PROMOTE NEIGHBORS TO GATHER TOGETHER TO BETTER RETAIN RESIDENTS IN THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, AND 5 PORCHES AND PATIOS AS POP EVENTS TO GET THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER IN A SAFE WAY AS WE CONTINUED TO BATTLE COVID-19.
MAKER SPACE, THE MOST EXCITING STEP FORWARD INVOLVES THE CREATION OF A MAKERSPACE IN WHEAT RIDGE. THE LOCALWORKS MAKERSPACE GROUP FORMED IN LATE AUGUST AND HAS BEEN MEETING WEEKLY ON TUESDAYS AT 6:00 PM. STARTING OUT AT STYLUS AND CRATE, THE GROUP MOVED TO THE LOCALWORKS OFFICES IN MID-SEPTEMBER AND LOCALWORKS IS NOW OPERATING A "MINI" MAKERSPACE COMPLETE WITH ELECTRONICS, HAND TOOLS, 3D PRINTER, COPY MACHINE, AND OTHER TOOLS THAT MAKERS USE TO MAKE AND CREATE.
