MOHA 990 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: THE NORTH CAROLINA MUSEUM OF HISTORY ASSOCIATES (MOHA) PROVIDES DIRECT SUPPORT TO THE NORTH CAROLINA MUSEUM OF HISTORY AS ITS FRIENDS GROUP. MOHA SUPPORTS THE MUSEUM'S AWARD-WINNING EXHIBITIONS, OUTSTANDING EDUCATIONAL AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS, AND THE ACQUISITION OF ARTIFACTS IMPORTANT TO NORTH CAROLINA'S HISTORY. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HELPS FUND TWO FESTIVALS AND THE MUSEUM'S DOCENT PROGRAM ALONG WITH THE MULTIPLE PROGRAMS IT SUPPORTS IN THE MUSEUM THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. PLEASE NOTE THAT IN 2020-2021, THE ORGANIZATION DID NOT FUND THE FESTIVALS DUE TO ONGOING RESTRAINTS CAUSED BY THE PANDEMIC. ALTHOUGH MOHA WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ONLY PASS-THROUGH STATE GRANT RELIEF FUNDS TO THE MUSEUM IN 2020-2021 DUE TO THE IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC, THE PRIOR FY FUNDS IN ADDITION TO MOHA STAFF SUPPORT HELPED THE MUSEUM WITH THESE ACCOMPLISHMENTS: FOUR EXTRAORDINARY EXHIBITIONS INCLUDING BEACH MUSIC, ANSWERING THE CALL, VARIETY VACATIONLAND, AND THE TRAVELING EXHIBITION, DRESSING THE ABBEY. 65,281 TOURED THE MUSEUM'S ONLINE EXHIBITIONS. 119,981 VIEWERS ENGAGED WITH THE MUSEUM'S NARRATIVE AND DOCUMENTARY FILM SERIES. 5,933 VISITORS DOWNLOADED AT-HOME LEARNING PACKETS. 2,456 VISITORS DOWNLOADED CRAFTS, COLORING PAGES, AND RECIPES FROM THE MUSEUM. 19,162 PEOPLE SEARCHED THE MUSEUM'S ONLINE COLLECTION OF ARTIFACTS. 2,498 LISTENERS TUNES INTO THE BITS OF HISTORY PODCAST. 17,278 ONLINE VISITORS ENGAGED WITH THE MUSEUM'S DIGITAL VIEW OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY. 1,301 VISITORS ENGAGED WITH ONLINE K-3 STORYTELLING. 30,781 READERS ENGAGED WITH THE MUSEUM'S BLOG, SIT A SPELL. 40,500 PARTICIPANTS ENJOYED DIGITAL PROGRAMS LIKE HISTORY + HIGHBALLS AND HISTORY @ HIGH NOON. 18,135 DIGITAL ATTENDEES ENJOYED THE AMERICAN INDIAN HERITAGE CELEBRATION 4,597 DIGITAL ATTENDEES ENJOYED THE AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE CELEBRATION. MOHA STAFF ASSISTED IN THE DEVELOPMENT, PLANNING, EXECUTION, MARKETING, COMMUNICATIONS, DESIGN, AND RETAIL SUPPORT OF THESE EXHIBITIONS AND PROGRAMS.


MUSEUM DAYS EVENTS CELEBRATING LOCAL NC HISTORY ARE TYPICALLY HELD ACROSS THE STATE IN VARIOUS HISTORICAL LOCATIONS. IN 2020-2021, NO MUSEUM DAYS EVENTS WERE HELD DUE TO THE IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC; OTHER ORGANIZATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS OF THE MEMBERS WERE ALSO IMPACTED.


VISITOR SERVICES, BOOKS, MAPS AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, EXHIBIT INFORMATION, REPLICAS OF ARTIFACTS, NORTH CAROLINA: AN APPETIZING STATE COOKBOOK AND OTHER OFFERINGS WERE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND VISITORS AT THE MUSEUM.
