SHELTER OPERATIONS - THE OPEN DOOR SHELTER FOR WOMEN AND THE JOHN YOUNG SHELTER FOR WOMEN PROGRAMS PROVIDE OVERNIGHT EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR 193 HOMELESS WOMEN FROM 7:00 PM TO 7:00 AM WITH A MODEST EVENING MEAL, SHOWERS, LIMITED STORAGE AND BASIC SOCIAL SERVICES. DURING PERIODS OF HYPOTHERMIA OR HYPERTHERMIA ALERTS THESE FACILITIES REMAIN OPEN. AN ADDITIONAL 18 TRANSITIONAL PROGRAM BEDS ARE PROVIDED WITH MORE EXTENSICE CASE MANAGEMENT. FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2015, NEW HOPE MINISTRIES SERVED A TOTAL OF 1,002 WOMEN, 39.9% OF WHOM WERE OVER 50 YEARS OF AGE. THE STAFF PROVIDES REFERRALS TO A VARIETY OF MAINSTREAM AND HOUSING SERVICES.
