ANNUAL PERFORMANCES: PERFORMANCES OF 1600S AND 1700S MUSIC IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN WASHINGTON, DC METRO AREA NEW YORK CITY. PERFORMANCES INCLUDED JOHN BLOW'S VENUS AND ADONIS AND BEETHOVEN'S LEONORE. PERFORMANCES TOOK PLACE AT THE JOHN F. KENNEDY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS EISENHOWER THEATER AND AT THE SALON DORE AND CORCORAN GALLERY OF ART AT THE GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN WASHINGTON, DC. IN NEW YORK CITY, PERFORMANCES WERE PRESENTED ON THE STAGE OF THE KAYE PLAYHOUSE AT HUNTER COLLEGE AND THE MUSEO DEL BARRIO THEATER.


COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND EDUCATION: OPERA LAFAYETTE IS COMMITTED TO INSPIRING A PUBLIC APPRECIATION FOR FORGOTTEN REPERTOIRE THROUGHAUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES. DURING THE FY20 SEASON, OPERA LAFAYETTE PRESENTED PERFORMANCES AT SUCH DMV INSTITUTIONS AS BOWIE CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, BOWIE HIGH SCHOOL, THE HILL CENTER, AND STANFORD IN WASHINGTON; AND AT THE CAROUSEL OF LANGUAGES IN NEW YORK CITY. WE MOVED OUR SUCCESSFUL OPERA STARTS WITH OH! SERIES ONLINE IN THE SPRING OF 2020 AND CREATED ON ONLINE ADULT LEARNING SALON SERIES TO REPLACE PERFORMANCES CANCELLED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.


RECORDING INITIATIVE: AS PART OF OUR ONGOING MISSION TO CREATE A LEGACY OF REDISCOVERED WORKS, OPERA LAFAYETTE CREATED A LIVE, FILMED VERSION OF BEETHOVEN'S LEONORE (1805) WHICH INCLUDED A RE-IMAGINING OF THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF FLORESTAN'S ACT 3 ARIA. WE ALSO SCREENED OUR NEWLY-RELEASED 2017 RECORDING OF GAUVEAU'S LEONORE, PART ONE OF OUR LEONORE PROJECT, AT THE AVALON THEATER IN WASHINGTON, DC.
