CDC COOPERATIVE NATIONAL COALITION FOR SEXUAL HEALTH - THE NATIONAL COALITION FOR SEXUAL HEALTH AIMS TO IMPROVE SEXUAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING BY ENCOURAGING PRODUCTIVE AND SUSTAINED CONVERSATIONS ABOUT SEXUAL HEALTH AND PROMOTING HIGH QUALITY SEXUAL HEALTH INFORMATION AND HEALTH SERVICES. ESTABLISHED IN 2012, THE COALITION IS MANAGED BY PARTNERSHIP FOR PREVENTION IN COOPERATION WITH THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF NURSE PRACTITIONERS, CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR SEXUAL HEALTH AT MOREHOUSE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, THE NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO PREVENT TEEN AND UNPLANNED PREGNANCY, NATIONAL VIRAL HEPATITIS ROUNDTABLE, AND PROJECT INFORM.THE COALITION AIMS TO MAKE SEXUAL HEALTH A COMMON PART OF OUR NATIONAL DISCOURSE AND PROMOTE HIGH QUALITY SEXUAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES. THE COALITION WILL BRING TOGETHER ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE A STAKE IN NOT JUST ADVANCING SEXUAL HEALTH, BUT IN ADVANCING THE OVERALL HEALTH OF OUR NATION. HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS, CONSUMER AND ADVOCACY GROUPS, HEALTH ORGANIZATIONS, BUSINESSES, MEDIA, FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, EDUCATORS, AND THE PUBLIC HEALTH COMMUNITY WILL BE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE AND TO ENGAGE IN JOINT ACTION.
BAYER ASPIRIN PROJECT - PROMOTING ASPIRIN USE TO PREVENT CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE - IN ITS LANDMARK STUDY RANKING THE VALUE OF CLINICAL PREVENTIVE SERVICES, PARTNERSHIP FOR PREVENTION FOUND THAT COUNSELING ABOUT REGULAR ASPIRIN USE IS ONE OF THE HIGHEST VALUE PREVENTIVE SERVICES CLINICIANS CAN PROVIDE. CURRENTLY, LESS THAN HALF OF ALL ADULTS FOR WHOM ASPIRIN IS RECOMMENDED TAKE ASPIRIN ON A REGULAR BASIS. IF THIS WAS INCREASED TO 90 PERCENT, AN ADDITIONAL 45,000 LIVES WOULD BE SAVED EACH YEAR. IN ADDITION, WIDESPREAD COUNSELING ABOUT ASPIRIN USE WOULD RESULT IN MEDICAL SAVINGS OF $70 PER PERSON ADVISED. PARTNERSHIP FOR PREVENTION HAS UNDERTAKEN A MULTI-PRONGED INITIATIVE TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF AMERICANS WHO ARE USING ASPIRIN TO REDUCE THEIR RISK OF HEART DISEASE AND STROKE.
COMMUNITY PREVENTION - REFERRING TO THE LAWS, EDUCATION CAMPAIGNS, HEALTHCARE SYSTEM CHANGES OR OTHER POLICIES AND PROGRAMS AIMED AT IMPROVING HEALTH AMONG POPULATIONS OF PEOPLE. THE TASK FORCE ON COMMUNITY PREVENTIVE SERVICES, AN EXPERT BODY CONVENED BY THE CDC, PROVIDES GUIDANCE IN SELECTING EFFECTIVE COMMUNITY PREVENTIVE SERVICES.
