PRODUCTION - THE COMPANY RECONSTRUCTS MASTERWORKS FROM BROWN'S EXTENSIVE REPERTORY, AND BUILDS THEM INTO CURATED PROGRAMS FOR PRESENTATIONS IN OUR HOME BASE OF NEW YORK CITY AS WELL AS ON TOUR. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2021, WE RECONSTRUCTED "GLACIAL DECOY" (1979) AND CREATED A NEW, UNIQUE VIDEO ADAPTATION OF THE WORK RETITLED "THE DECOY PROJECT." THE COMPANY'S RECONSTRUCTION PROCESS IS INFORMED BY EXTENSIVE DOCUMENTATION IN OUR ARCHIVAL COLLECTIONS AND BENEFITS GREATLY FROM THE PARTICIPATION OF AN EXTENSIVE NETWORK OF TBDC ALUMNI AND SOME OF BROWN'S ORIGINAL COLLABORATORS.
ARCHIVE - SINCE 2009, THE COMPANY HAS UNDERTAKEN EXTENSIVE WORK ON OUR ARCHIVAL HOLDINGS, CATALOGING AND PRESERVING THOUSANDS OF VIDEOS, FILMS, AND OTHER DOCUMENTARY ITEMS. THE FINAL PICKUP OF THE MATERIALS FOR THE PLACEMENT OF A PORTION OF THE TRISHA BROWN ARCHIVES AT THE NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS TOOK PLACE IN JUNE 2021. BY PLACING THE ARCHIVE IN THIS WAY, WE HOPE TO ENSURE PUBLIC AND SCHOLARLY ACCESS TO THIS RICH COLLECTION, AND TO SEE THESE HOLDINGS BECOME THE SOURCE MATERIALS FOR A BROAD RANGE OF EXPOSITIONS, MULTI-MEDIA DISPLAYS, AND OTHER PROGRAMS THAT ALLOW PEOPLE TO EXPERIENCE TRISHA BROWN'S CREATIVITY IN DIFFERENT WAYS.
EDUCATION & LICENSING - THE COMPANY CONDUCTS DANCE TRAINING IN NEW YORK AND TEACHING RESIDENCIES AT MAJOR UNIVERSITIES AND ACADEMIES IN THE US AND ABROAD. THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT ALSO MANAGES LICENSING FOR BROWN'S WORKS, DISSEMINATING HER CHOREOGRAPHY BY SETTING WORKS ON OTHER PROFESSIONAL COMPANIES. THROUGH VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON PROJECTS, COMPANY INSTRUCTORS HAD RESIDENCIES IN CHICAGO, BELGIUM, FRANCE, THE NETHERLANDS, AND SWITZERLAND. PERFORMANCE & TOURING - THE COMPANY PERFORMS BROWN'S CHOREOGRAPHY IN OUR HOME BASE OF NEW YORK CITY, AND ON TOUR ACROSS THE US AND OVERSEAS. THE COMPANY CURATED A DIGITAL SEASON IN SPRING 2021 HOSTED BY THE JOYCE THEATER FEATURING "THE DECOY PROJECT," NEWLY RECORDED PERFORMANCES OF "LOCUS TRIO AND "WATERMOTOR, AND AN ARCHIVAL RECORDING OF "GEOMETRY OF QUIET." IT WAS THE COMPANY'S FIRST LIVE PERFORMANCE SINCE MARCH 2020 WHEN THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC FORCED THE CANCELLATION OF OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON.
