OUR MISSION IS TO: A) CREATE, PERFORM, AND PRESERVE DANCES APPLYING THE COLLABORATIVE CREATIVE METHODS OF PILOBOLUS DANCE THEATER; B) BROADEN THE DEFINITION OF DANCE FOR NEW AUDIENCES THROUGH PROJECTS OF ALL SCALES IN LIVE, FILM AND DIGITAL MEDIA CHARACTERIZED BY THE QUALITIES OF OUR NAMESAKE FUNGUS - ADVENTUROUS, ADAPTIVE, ATHLETIC, SURPRISING AND REVEALING OF BEAUTY IN UNEXPECTED PLACES; AND C) TEACH DANCERS, NON-DANCERS AND ORGANIZATIONS HOW TO HARNESS THE CREATIVE POTENTIAL OF GROUPS USING PILOBOLUS' METHODS.

TOURING COMPANIES: PILOBOLUS PRESENTS FULL-EVENING PERFORMANCES IN THEATRES AROUND THE COUNTRY AND THE WORLD.


FESTIVAL: A PROGRAM THAT BEGAN IN 2018, THE FESTIVAL CREATED A RURAL CULTURAL EXPERIENCE FOR THE COMMUNITY IN AND AROUND THE HOME OF PILOBOLUS IN WASHINGTON, CT. THE AIM IS TO PROVIDE A UNIQUE CULTURAL EXPERIENCE AT LOW OR NO COST TO THE COMMUNITY THAT PILOBOLUS HAS BEEN A PART OF FOR DECADES. IN 2021, THE FESTIVAL WAS ONCE AGAIN DONE AS A ROVING ART SAFARI THE AUDIENCE EXPERIENCED A SERIES OF PERFORMANCES WHILE TRAVELING THROUGH AN EXPANSIVE RURAL PROPERTY OVER 4 DAYS.


EDUCATION: PILOBOLUS OFFERS A BROAD ARRAY OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS BASED ON OUR UNIQUE COLLABORATIVE METHOD AT HOME AND AROUND THE COUNTRY. THE PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED FOR ALL AGES, DANCERS AND NON-DANCERS ALIKE.
