IMPROVE HEALTH:THE MSSC PHYSICIAN LEADERHIP ALLIANCE IS WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT TO IMPLEMENT THE CDC 1815 AND CDC 1817 GRANTS IN SEDGWICK COUNTY PROVIDING PROJECT MANAGEMENT/COORDINATION OF STAKEHOLDERS WITHING THE COMMUNITY AND FISCAL MANAGEMENT OF GRANT FUNDS ALLOCATED TO SEDGWICK COUNTY. THESE GRANTS ARE TO ADDRESS THE PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT OF DIABETES, HEART DISEASE AND STROKE IN KANSAS WITH THE LONG TERM OBJECTIVES OF INCREASING CONTROL AMONG ADULTS WITH KNOWN HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND INCREASE CHOLESTEROL MANAGEMENT AMONG PATIENTS AT HIGH RISK OF CARDIOVASCULAR EVENTS.


IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND DELIVERY OF HEALTH CARE:MSSC PHYSICIAN LEADERSHIP ALLIANCE STRIVES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND DELIVERY OF HEALTH CARE BY PROVIDING CONTINUING EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE PHYSICIAN MEMBERS OF THE MEDICAL SOCIETY OF SEDGWICK COUNTY.CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMMING FOCUSES ON VARIED ASPECTS OF PRACTICE AND DELIVERY OF CARE INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:COLLABORATIVE FUNCTIONS, RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT, CONFLICT MANAGEMENT, SKILLFULL COMMUNICATION, ADAPTABILITY, MOTIVATION OF SELF AND OTHERS, STRATEGIC PERSPECTIVE, CRITICAL APPRAISAL SKILLS, ACCOUNTABILITY, BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE, AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE HEALTH CARE ENVIRONMENT.


DEVELOP EMERGING PHYSICIAN LEADERS:THE MSSC PHYSICIAN LEADERSHIP ALLIANCE ADMINISTERS THE DR. JOE MEEK YOUNG PHYSICIAN LEADERSHIP AWARD.THE JOE MEEK AWARD IS GIVEN ANNUALLY TO RECOGNIZE AND ENCOURAGE YOUNG PHYSICIAN LEADERS IN WICHITA/SEDGWICK COUNTY BY FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING THIR PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES.THE AWARD IS INTENDED TO FOSTER LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOP FUTURE MEDICAL SOCIETY OF SEDGWICK COUNTY LEADERS. FOR YOUNG PHYSICIANS THE AWARD PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY TO AUGMENT THEIR LEADERSHIP POTENTIAL AND THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO PARTICIPATE IN LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES OF THEIR CHOICE.
