THE EVERYBODY BIKES PROGRAM PROVIDES USED BICYCLES AND BICYCLE PARTS, BICYCLE SERVICES AND CYCLING GEAR TO LOW-INCOME VERMONTERS AT A HIGHLY SUBSIDIZED RATE. DONATED BIKES ARE REFURBISHED BY VOLUNTEERS AND PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS AND MADE AVAILABLE AS A MEANS OF AFFORDABLE, RELIABLE AND ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION FOR PEOPLE WITH LIMITED FINANCIAL RESOURCES. EVERYBODY BIKES CUSTOMERS ARE REFERRED BY AGENCIES ACROSS CHITTENDEN COUNTY THAT WORK WITH VERMONTERS IN LOW WAGE EMPLOYMENT, RECOVERING FROM ADDICTION, LIVING WITH HOMELESSNESS, AND ADJUSTING TO LIVING IN THE UNITED STATES. THE EVERYBODY BIKES PROGRAM INCLUDES A MOBILE BICYCLE REPAIR UNIT WHICH REPAIRS BIKES WHERE CUSTOMERS LIVE AND WORK. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH VOLUNTEER, INTERNSHIP, AND WORK EXPERIENCES THAT DEVELOP MECHANICAL, PROBLEM-SOLVING, AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. WE RETURNED TO MANY OF THE PROGRAMS SUSPENDED DURING THE PANDEMIC, INCLUDING VOLUNTEER NIGHTS, YOUTH BIKE REPAIR SESSIONS, A YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM, KIDS BIKE GIVE-AWAYS, AND A MOBILE BIKE REPAIR UNIT.
