THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO HELP CHILDREN HEAL FROM THE TRAUMAS THEY'VE FACED BY PROVIDING A SAFE AND CREATIVE WEEKLY EXPERIENCE WHILE STRENGTHENING COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION AMONG PEERS. PARTICIPANTS ALSO HAD THE CHANCE TO ENJOY LIVE PERFORMANCES BY CHAMBER MUSIC AND DANCE ENSEMBLES FOR THEIR FAMILIES AND EXPERIENCED ONE-OF-A-KIND FUSION WORKSHOPS IN JAZZ AND DANCE. ALL EXPERIENCES WERE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

THERE WERE OTHER SMALL PROGRAMS THAT OCCURED DURING THE YEAR.

THE JOSEPH AVENUE ARTS AND CULTURE ALLIANCE HISTORIC COMMEMORATION IS A PLANNED INSTALLATION IN THE FUTURE CENTER FOR PERFORMING AND VISUAL ARTS. THE DISPLAY WILL FEATURE A PERMANENT HISTORIC EXHIBIT OF LIFE, BUSINESS, AND COMMUNITY WITHIN ROCHESTER'S NORTHEAST QUADRANT AT THE TURN OF THE 21ST CENTURY. AN ADDITIONAL DISPLAY WILL BE DEDICATED TO JEWISH LIFE AND HISTORY FROM THAT SAME PERIOD. THE COMMEMORATION WAS EXTENSIVELY RESEARCHED AND PREPARED BY A PROFESSIONAL HISTORIAN AND INCLUDES FIRST-PERSON NARRATIVES FROM COMMUNITY MEMBERS STILL LIVING AND WHO GREW UP IN THE NORTHEAST QUADRANT.

THE JOSEPH AVENUE ARTS AND CULTURE ALLIANCE VISUAL ARTS CAMP, DEVELOPED IN COLLABORATION WITH ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND ROCHESTER CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT FACULTY, MARKED A SUCCESSFUL SECOND YEAR. FEATURING FUTURE EDUCATORS FROM RIT'S MASTER OF SCIENCE IN TEACHING ART PROGRAM, THE CAMP ATTRACTED OVER 400 STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE DISTRICT, WHO PARTICIPATED IN AN AFTER-SCHOOL "TAKEOVER" USING THE RCSD BUS SYSTEM. HOSTED AT RCSD SCHOOL #5, STUDENTS ENGAGED DAILY IN HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES AT VARIOUS ART STATIONS, CREATING WORKS IN MULTIPLE MEDIUMS TO TAKE HOME. EACH STUDENT WAS PROVIDED WITH LIMITED SUPPLIES TO CONTINUE THEIR ARTISTIC ENDEAVORS, AND LOOKING AHEAD, JAACA AIMS TO OFFER EVEN MORE RESOURCES IN FUTURE CAMPS TO SUSTAIN CREATIVITY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
