MÁS ACTIVATES AND EMPOWERS COMMUNITIES THROUGH ART, RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT THE HISTORY AND CULTURAL CONTRIBUTIONS OF LATINOS OF AFRICAN DESCENT FOR SOCIAL CHANGE AND RACIAL EQUITY.

MÁS TALLERES (WORKSHOPS) BRINGS AFRO DIASPORIC ARTISTS TO TEACH THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS ABOUT THEIR PRACTICE AND ITS HISTORY. WE SUPPORT EIGHT SIX-WEEK WORKSHOPS PER YEAR, HOSTING UP TO 30 GUESTS FOR EACH. ALL MÁS EVENTS AND PROGRAMS ARE FREE AND INCLUSIVE TO ALL IN KING COUNTY WHO SPEAK EITHER SPANISH OR ENGLISH, WITH MÁS PROVIDING SUPPORT TO ARTISTS AND OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO SHARE THEIR WISDOM. THROUGH OUR PROGRAMMING WE ESTIMATE THAT WE ENGAGE AROUND 1000 KING COUNTY COMMUNITY MEMBERS.


CONECTÁNDONOS MÁS (WE CONNECT MORE) YOUTH PROGRAM SERVES ~20 BLACK AND INDIGENOUS YOUTH 14-21 Y/O FOR 4 MONTHS ANNUALLY, ENGAGING THEM IN CURRICULUM AND ACTIVITIES CENTERED AROUND EXPLORING IDENTITY AND LEADERSHIP THROUGH ART AND HISTORY


MÁS CONVERSACIONES PARA MÁS ORGULLO (MORE CONVERSATIONS FOR MORE PRIDE) STEMMED FROM A DESIRE TO CONNECT AND HEAL DURING THE 2020 BLACK RESISTANCE UPRISINGS AFTER THE KILLING OF GEORGE FLOYD. THE FEMME-LED PROGRAM INVITES OUR COMMUNITIES TO CONVERSE AROUND TOPICS RELATED TO OUR HERITAGE, CULTURE, IDENTITY, AND PAST AND PRESENT EXPERIENCES AS BLACK AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLE. WE HOLD TWO THREE-PART CONVERSATION SERIES EACH YEAR AND HOST 30-50 GUESTS DURING EACH. CONVERSATIONS ARE LED BY BLACK PANELISTS CLOSEST TO THE TOPIC AT HAND.
