THE ORGANIZATION IS DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING AND PROMOTING THE ART OF WRITING THROUGH PROVIDING ENTERTAINING AND INNOVATIVE WAYS FOR WRITERS OF ALL FORMS AND GENRES TO REACH THEIR AUDIENCES.

SERIOUSLY ENTERTAINING: HOUSE OF SPEAKEASY PRESENTED EIGHT "SERIOUSLY ENTERTAINING" LITERARY CABARET SHOWS FEATURING 32 WRITERS AND REACHING OVER 1,600 GUESTS. SPEAKTOGETHER: COORDINATED 24 AUTHOR APPEARANCES AND PERFORMANCES FOR HIGH SCHOOL MATINEES AND AFTER-SCHOOL WORKSHOPS IN BROOKLYN, MANHATTAN AND THE BRONX, BENEFITTING OVER 1,250 TEENS. SPEAKFREELY: THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, SPEAKEASY MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR 48 HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS TO RECEIVE COMPLIMENTARY ACCESS TO THE "SERIOUSLY ENTERTAINING" PROGRAMMING. BOOKMOBILE: SPEAKEASY'S MOBILE BOOK TRUCK DELIVERS FREE BOOKS AND PROGRAMMING TO ALL FIVE NYC BOROUGHS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NYC HOUSING AUTHORITY, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, AND LITERACY PARTNERS. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND THEIR TEACHERS WITH COMPLIMENTARY BOOKS AND RELATED TEACHING CURRICULA INSPIRED BY THE SHOWS.
