HIV/AIDS CYCLING RELATED EVENTS POSITIVE PEDALER OFFERED SEVERAL HIV/AIDS RIDES TO CYCLISTS. THESE RIDES ARE PLANNED, ORGANIZED AND IMPLEMENTED BY THE COMMITTEES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF POSITIVE PEDALERS AND VOLUNTEER MEMBERS OF THE ORGANIZATION. THE VOLUNTEERS DESIGN, MAP AND MARK THE ROUTE, AND PROVIDE ALL LOGISTICAL ASSISTANCE. THERE WERE TWO RIDES IN 2016: PAUL HULSE CENTURY RIDE AND JONATHAN PON TWO DAY MEMORIAL RIDE. THE THREE RIDES COLLECTIVELY HAD APPROXIMATELY 400 RIDERS AND VOLUNTEERS. DURING THESE RIDES, POSITIVE PEDALERS ACTS AS A "FACE OF HIV", INSPIRING AND EDUCATION OTHER PARTICIPANTS REGARDING THE CHALLENGES OF LIVING WITH THE VIRUS AND THE TRIUMPH OF LIVING WITHOUT THE SHAME AND STIGMA STILL GREATLY ASSOCIATED WITH HIV/AIDS. FOR A LARGE MAJORITY OF THE RIDERS, THESE RIDES MAY BE THE FIRST TIME THEY ARE ABLE TO BE PUBLIC ABOUT THEIR STATUS IN A VERY ACCEPTING ENVIRONMENT OF THEIR PEERS.
