THE REPUBLIC FOOD ENTERPRISE CENTER IS A NON-PROFIT CENTER TO INCREASE ACCESS TO FRESH, LOCALLY SOURCED PRODUCE AND CREATE ECONOMIC PROSPERITY FOR FARMERS AND ITS LOW-INCOME EMPLOYEES. THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS WITH REGIONAL FOOD BANKS, FARMERS' MARKETS, A COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE PROGRAM, A FARM-TO-SCHOOL PROGRAM, CONTRACTS WITH GROWERS, A SHARED-USE KITCHEN,AND MORE, THE RFEC IS WORKING TO INCREASE THE HEALTH OF THE REGION. THE GOALS OF THE RFEC ARE TO INCREASE REGIONAL CONSUMPTION OF, AND ACCESS TO LOCALLY PRODUCED AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS AND DEVELOP NEW MARKET OPPORTUNITIES FOR FARM OPERATIONS SERVING LOCAL MARKETS.

REPUBLIC FOOD ENTERPRISE CENTER (RFEC) SERVES AS A COMPREHENSIVE CENTER THAT RESPONDS TO THE APPALACHIAN REGION BY STIMULATING AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION, PRODUCING VALUE ADDED PRODUCTS, AND DISTRIBUTING LOCAL PRODUCE. RFEC ALSO PROVIDES EXTENSIVE SUPPORT TO LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS AND SUPPORTS THE ECONOMY BY CREATING JOBS AND MARKETS FOR AGRICULTURE PRODUCTION AND SUSTAINABILITY. THE RFEC FACILITY PROVIDES THE USE OF A COMMERCIAL KITCHEN FOR ENTREPRENEURS AS WELL AS LEASED STORAGE AND FREEZER SPACE.
