Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF FOOD TO UNITE PEOPLE AND TO LAY FOUNDATIONS FOR HEALTHY COMMUNITIES. GROWGOOD INC. (GROWGOOD) HAS TRANSFORMED A 1.5 ACRE VACANT PARCEL OF LAND ADJACENT TO THE SALVATION ARMY'S BELL SHELTER INTO AN URBAN FARM PROVIDING FRESH PRODUCE TO THE SHELTER'S KITCHEN; A THERAPEUTIC GREEN SPACE FOR SPIRITUAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALING; AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE SHELTER'S RESIDENTS.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

IN 2022, GROWGOOD AS AN ORGANIZATION CONTINUED TO OPERATE ITS PROGRAMS WITH SOME LIMITATIONS DUE TO THE ONGOING COVID-RELATED IMPACTS FOR THE HOMELESS POPULATION WE ARE SERVING. ON A WEEKLY BASIS, THE FOOD FOR LIFE PROGRAM WAS HOSTED IN OUR OUTDOOR THERAPY SPACE AND WE INCREASED THE CLASSES TO TWICE WEEKLY SESSIONS THAT ARE REQUIRED FOR THE BELL SHELTER WELLNESS PARTICIPANTS. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM WE TAUGHT 624 INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTIONAL HOURS. ON AVERAGE, THERE WERE 15 PARTICIPANTS FROM THE BELL SHELTER AT EACH CLASS. IN ADDITION TO OUR THERAPY PROGRAMS, FARMING ACTIVITIES CONTINUED WITH FRESH PRODUCE DONATIONS DIRECTLY TO THE BELL SHELTER'S KITCHEN. UP TO 100 POUNDS OF FRESH PRODUCE WAS DELIVERED EACH WEEK TO THE (CON SCH O) KITCHEN. SHELTER RESIDENTS WERE ENGAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN FARMING ACTIVITIES AND TO PROVIDE SUPPORT ON THE FARM.FURTHERMORE, COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER EVENTS WERE HELD ON A REGULAR BASIS, TYPICALLY 2-3 PER MONTH. IN 2022 WE SERVED 850 COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO VOLUNTEERED TIME TO PERFORM FARMING ACTIVITIES THAT BENEFITED THE BELL SHELTER BY PROVIDING A GREEN SPACE FOR RESIDENTS.
