OUR MISSION IS TO ENRICH THE LIVES OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS BY PROVIDING EQUINE ASSISTED ACTIVITIES AND THERAPIES. OUR SERVICES INCLUDE THERAPEUTIC HORSEBACK RIDING, CARRIAGE DRIVING AND HIPPOTHERAPY.

IN 2021, WE RELIED ON OUR COMMUNITY TO HELP SHAPE OUR PLAN TO RESUME PROGRAMMING FOLLOWING THE SHUTDOWN IN 2020 DUE TO COVID-19. WE CREATED A DETAILED PLAN AND RESUMED SERVICES ON APRIL 20, 2021 ON A LIMITED BASIS. FULL PROGRAMMING STARTED ON JULY 26, 2021 AND CONTINUED THROUGH OCTOBER 28, 2021. RIVER VALLEY RIDERS SERVED 101 INDIVIDUALS AND PROVIDED 1,667 LESSON HOURS OF THERAPEUTIC HORSEBACK RIDING AND CARRIAGE DRIVING. OUR PARTICIPANTS ARE CHILDREN AND ADULTS WHO ARE CHALLENGED BY A WIDE RANGE OF DISABILITIES INCLUDING AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER, CEREBRAL PALSY, DOWN SYNDROME, AND DEVELOPMENT DELAY. THEY RECEIVE PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE AND EMOTIONAL BENEFITS. THEY GAIN SELF-CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM, BUILD STRENGTH, IMPROVE BALANCE AND HAND EYE COORDINATION, WHILE FORMING MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS.


RIVER VALLEY RIDERS PARTNERED WITH UNBRIDLEY ABILITIES TO PROVIDE 53 HOURS OF HIPPOTHERAPY, FOCUSED ON SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY SERVICES.


RIVER VALLEY RIDERS PROVIDED INFORMATION ABOUT THERAPEUTIC HORSEBACK RIDING AND CARRIAGE DRIVING TO PARTICIPANTS, VOLUNTEERS, SUPPORTERS, AND THE COMMUNITY THROUGH OUR WEBSITE AND TWO NEWSLETTERS.
