FISCAL SPONSORSHIP - PROVIDES SUPPORT TO LOCAL BUSINESSES BY PROVIDING LOANS TO FUND STARTUP COSTS. WE ALSO SUPPORT THE WORK OF VARIOUS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND COALITIONS IN THEIR MISSIONS BY ACTING AS A FISCAL SPONSOR.
JUSTIFIED ANGER - JUSTIFIED ANGER IS AN AFRICAN AMERICAN-LED, COMMUNITY-DRIVEN INITIATIVE TO REDUCE RACIAL DISPARITIES IN MADISON, WISCONSIN. THE GOAL IS TO CREATE A MOVEMENT THAT WILL UNITE LEADERSHIP, VISION, POLICY, AND STRATEGY TO IDENTIFY THE GAPS IN SERVICES AND AREAS OF NEED AND THEN PLAN AND IMPLEMENT A LONG-TERM STRATEGY TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF PEOPLE OF COLOR IN MADISON.
REENTRY - OUR REENTRY WORK HAS FOUR MAIN COMPONENTS: EMERGENCY AND TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, JOB TRAINING AND PLACEMENT, MENTORING, AND ADVOCACY. THIS YEAR WE OPERATED FOUR HOUSING UNITS SERVING OVER 100 MEN AND CONTINUED TO RUN TWO MENTORING GROUPS FOR EX-OFFENDERS WITH OVER 125 IN ATTENDANCE. WE MET WITH 11 EMPLOYERS, PARTICIPATED IN 4 JOB FAIRS, AND MET WITH 19 COMPANIES TO SOLIDIFY PARTNERSHIPS. IN ADDITION WE OFFERED ONE-ON-ONE ADVOCACY ASSISTANCE TO OVER 114 MEN. WE CONTINUE TO HAVE SOLID RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AND SEVERAL OTHER COMMUNITY PARTNERS. WE ALSO HAVE A STAFF MEMBER WHO PROVIDES RESEARCH AND PUBLIC EDUCATION WORKSHOPS ON ISSUES RELATED TO RACIAL DISPARITIES AND INCARCERATION.
