THE MISSION OF THE CHALFONTE FOUNDATION IS TO PROVIDE SPIRITUAL, PSYCHO-SOCIAL, RECREATIONAL, FINANCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH, FAMILIES AND THEIR COMMUNITIES IN NEED.

Part 3 - Line 4a
CHILDREN AND COMMUNITIES INITIATIVE: PROVIDED ACCOMMODATIONS FOR FAMILIES, CHILDREN AND GROUPS TO PARTICIPATE IN RETREATS IN ELK RAPIDS, MICHIGAN. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC YOUTH CAMPS WERE SUSPENDED AND WILL NOT RESUME UNTIL 2024, HOWEVER MORE INTIMATE GATHERINGS OF FAMILIES WITH THEIR CHILDREN HAS OCCURRED AT CHALFONTE HOUSE ALONG WITH THE CONTINUATION OF MOM'S WEEKEND AND WOMEN'S WEEKEND RETREATS. ACTIVITIES IN DETROIT INCLUDED EDUCATIONAL MOVIE NIGHTS, ACTIVITIES AROUND MAJOR EVENTS SUCH AS THE DETROIT THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE; VISITS TO PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS; AND MORE.
ARTS AND CULTURE INITIATIVE: PLAN, PRODUCE, AND PRESENT CULTURAL ARTS PROGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH, FAMILIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. THE INITIATIVE INVOLVES HOSTING EXHIBITIONS, LECTURES, CONCERTS, ARTS AND CRAFTS ACTIVITIES, AND VISITS TO MUSEUMS AND CULTURAL EVENTS.
FOOD AND AGRICULTURE INITIATIVE: PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR A SMALL FARMING PROGRAM AS WELL AS AN URBAN GARDEN THAT PROVIDED HANDS ON EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. SOME HOME SCHOOL GROUPS PARTICIPATED IN PLANTING CROPS AND CULTIVATING SOIL. THE INITIATIVE INCLUDED START-UP SUPPORT FOR AN OFF-GRID FARM IN TORCH LAKE, MICHIGAN AND CONSTRUCTION OF AN URBAN GARDEN IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
