TO CREATE A DIVERSE AND VIBRANT COMMUNITY THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF LGBTQ ART AND ARTIST ACROSS GENERATIONS AND DISCIPLINES.

QUEER ART PRESENTS FOCUSES ON AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT FOR LGBTQ ARTISTS THROUGH PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS ORGANIZED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CO-PRESENTING VENUES. INCLUDED WITHIN THIS INITIATIVE IS THE LONG-RUNNING MONTHLY SCREENING SERIES QUEER ART FILM AT THE IFC CENTER IN GREENWICH VILLAGE, IN WHICH A DIVERSE AND INFLUENTIAL LINE-UP OF LGBTQ ARTISTS ARE INVITED TO PRESENT AND DISCUSS FILMS THAT HAVE MOST INSPIRED THEM.


QUEER ART IS SERVING AS THE FISCAL SPONSOR FOR THREE PROJECTS. (1) ART FOR BLACK LIVES IS A PROJECT THAT ALLOWS ARTISTS TO DONATE FINE ART DIGITAL PRINTS FOR SALE, WITH ALL PROFITS PROVIDING RESOURCE SUPPORT TO THE BLACK TRANS COMMUNITY. (2) BODY HACK IS A MUTUAL CARE RESOURCE AND INTERNATIONAL FUNDRAISING COLLECTIVE FOR AND BY TRANSGENDER AND QUEER PEOPLE OF COLOR. (3) LITE BRITE NEON IS A STUDIO CREATING NEON ART WORKS THAT CELEBRATE QUEER NARRATIVES.


QUEER ART MENTORSHIP IS AN INTERGENERATIONAL MENTORSHIP PROGRAM THAT SUPPORTS A YEAR-LONG EXCHANGE BETWEEN EMERGING AND ESTABLISHED ARTISTS WORKING IN FILM, LITERATURE, PERFORMANCE, VISUAL ART, AND CURATORIAL PRACTICE. THE PROGRAM SUPPORTS, ON AVERAGE, 10 NEW MENTOR/FELLOW PAIRS EACH YEAR AND CULMINATES IN AN ANNUAL EXHIBITION.


QUEER ART AWARDS IS AN INITIATIVE OF GRANTS, PRIZES, AND RESIDENCIES THAT INCLUDES A SPECTRUM OF SUPPORT-MONETARY AND OTHERWISE-FOR LGBTQ ARTISTS. IT INCLUDES THE ANNUAL QUEER ART PRIZE AWARDS AND A GROWING NUMBER OF INDIVIDUAL GRANTS, SUCH AS THE BARBARA HAMMER LESBIAN EXPERIMENTAL FILMMAKING GRANT AND GIVING CIRCLE RELIEF.
