THE VIRGINIA HOSPITAL CENTER MEDICAL BRIGADE BELIEVES THAT ALL PEOPLE DESERVE ACCESS TO QUALITY HEALTHCARE IN HONDURAS, WE INCREASE ACCESS THROUGH HIGH-IMPACT INTERVENTIONS, EDUCATION, AND CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMS IN REMOTE VILLAGES IN THIS WAY, WE DELIVER MEDICAL SERVICES TO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ANNUALLY, AND WE INITIATE AND BUILD SUSTAINABLE PUBLIC HEALTH MEASURES THAT PROVIDE ONGOING HEALTHCARE IN IMPOVERISHED COMMUNITIES

IN 2021, WE PROVIDED LEADERSHIP TRAINING TO COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS, MEDICATIONS TO RURAL CLINICS, AND HEALTHCARE SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT TO HONDURAN HOSPITALS AND CLINICS. WE ALSO DELIVERED FOOD TO RURAL COMMUNITIES IN NEED AND CHLORINE MONITORING FOR 11 RURAL VILLAGES. SURGICAL SERVICES RESUMED IN NOVEMBER 2021, PROVIDING 60 PROCEDURES INCLUDING CATARACT REMOVAL AND STRABISMUS REPAIR. IN ADDITION, OUR REHAB TEAM OF THERAPISTS DELIVERED CONSULTATIVE SERVICES AND TREATMENT AT TWO REHABILITATION CENTERS IN COMAYAGUA. DAILY CLASSES WERE CONDUCTED FOR HONDURAN THERAPISTS, SOCIAL WORKERS AND TEACHERS. DISTRIBUTION OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AT THESE CENTERS INCLUDED WHEELCHAIRS, WALKERS AND CRUTCHES.
