THE ORGANIZATION IS A MULTIRACIAL, GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION LED BY CONCERNED SENIORS IN THE CHICAGO METROPOLITAN AREA, AND CROSSES NEIGHBORHOOD, RACIAL, RELIGIOUS, AND SOCIOECONOMIC LINES TO FIND COMMON GROUND UPON WHICH TO ACT.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING: THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMMITTEE IS LED BY CONCERNED LEADERS WHO ORGANIZE AROUND HOUSING JUSTICE WITH THE BELIEF THAT HIGH QUALITY, SAFE, ACCESSIBLE, AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR SENIORS, AS WELL AS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES, IS A HUMAN RIGHT. COMMITTEE MEMBERS WORK IN SENIOR BUILDINGS TO FORM TENANT ASSOCIATIONS AND BUILD POWER TO ADDRESS BUILDING CONDITION CONCERNS WHILE ALSO ORGANIZING TO PRESERVE AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR SENIORS. THE ORGANIZATION HAS BUILT POWER TO PASS HOUSING POLICY THAT REFLECTS ITS VALUES AT THE CITY, STATE, AND NATIONAL LEVELS.


HEALTHCARE AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE: THE HEALTHCARE AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE COMMITTEE OF THE ORGANIZATION WORKS ON ISSUES OF RETIREMENT SECURITY, MINIMUM AND LIVING WAGE. HISTORICALLY, THE COMMITTEE ALSO WORKED ON NURSING HOME REFORM AND RAISING THE MINIMUM WAGE FOR CHICAGO WORKERS. THE COMMITTEE ALSO SEEKS TO STRENGTHEN SOCIAL SECURITY BY STRENGTHENING THIS EARNED BENEFITS PROGRAM VITAL FOR SENIORS.


CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND MOVEMENT POLITICS: VOTER REGISTRATION IS A CRITICAL PIECE OF THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION.
