CHICAGO WOMEN IN TRADES WORKS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF WOMEN IN THE SKILLED TRADES AND OTHER BLUE COLLAR OCCUPATIONS AND TO ELIMINATE THE BARRIERS THAT PROHIBIT WOMEN FROM ENTERING AND REMAINING IN NON-TRADITIONAL CAREERS.

CHICAGO WOMEN IN TRADES PROVIDES SUPPORT, ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION TO TRADESWOMEN; WORKS TO INCREASE TRAINING FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS TO ENTER NONTRADITIONAL JOBS; PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO EMPLOYERS, UNIONS AND OTHER TRADESWOMEN GROUPS; DOCUMENTS TRENDS IN THE NONTRADITIONAL WORKPLACE; AND ADVOCATES FOR IMPROVED POLICIES AND PRACTICIES THAT SUPPORT WOMEN'S ACCESS TO NONTRADITIONAL TRAINING AND JOBS, AS WELL AS SUCCESS AND SAFETY ON THE JOB.


HELD A CONFERENCE WHICH BROUGHT TOGETHER TRADESWOMEN FROM ACROSS THE NATION AND FOUR COUNTRIES, AS WELL AS ACROSS CRAFTS TO GATHER, CELEBRATE, AND BUILD COMMUNITY. THE CONFERENCE DREW OVER 1,500 ATTENDEES
