Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE - OVERSEAS COUNCIL PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO BOTH NEEDY STUDENTS AND FACULTY. IMPORTANTLY, THE ALLOCATION OF THESE SCHOLARSHIP RESOURCES RESTS WITH THE SCHOOLS WHO ALLOCATE THE FUNDS. THIS HELPS ENSURE THAT THOSE STUDENTS AND FACULTY WITH HIGH POTENTIAL FOR ADVANCING GOD'S KINGDOM AND WHO ARE MOST IN NEED CAN CONTINUE DEVELOPING AS THE CRITICAL CHRISTIAN LEADERS FOR THE FUTURE. IN THE LAST YEAR, 89 STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS WERE FUNDED IN SEMINARIES ACROSS AFRICA, ASIA, EUROPE, LATIN AMERICA, AND THE MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA.

TRANSFORMATIONAL PROJECTS AND INSTITUTES- OVERSEAS COUNCIL PROVIDES LEADERSHIP SUPPORT TO PARTNER SEMINARIES WITH DAILY OPERATIONAL NEEDS SUCH AS SALARY SUPPORT, SPECIAL PROJECTS, AND SEMINARY OPERATING EXPENSES. THE LARGEST COMPONENT OF THIS AREA, HOWEVER, IS OUR INSTITUTES FOR EXCELLENCE PROGRAM WHICH IS DESIGNED TO HELP SEMINARIES IMPROVE ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS BY CONVENING SCHOOL LEADERS (PRESIDENTS, STAFF AND BOARD) TO ENGAGE IN WEEK-LONG SESSIONS WITH PEERS REGARDING CHALLENGES IN CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT. FOR THESE LEADERS, THE INSTITUTES FOR EXCELLENCE ARE A REGULAR, REGIONAL, AND RELEVANT RESOURCE AS, OFTEN, WHAT THEOLOGICAL SCHOOLS AND PROGRAMS IN THE MAJORITY WORLD NEED IS NOT SIMPLY MORE FUNDING, BUT MORE LEARNING TO MEET THE CHALLENGES OF CHRISTIAN LEADERS.
