PREPARING PEOPLE WITH BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE, VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE SERVICES CHANGES LIVES AND STRENGTHENS THE COMMUNITY THROUGH SERVICES THAT EDUCATE, EMPOWER, AND PROVIDE WORK OPPORTUNITIES TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND OTHER BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT.

DURING 2021 VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE SERVICES (VGS), AND ITS AFFILIATES VGS, INC, AND VOCATIONAL SERVICES, INC., SERVED 427 INDIVIDUALS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, PHYSICAL DISABILITIES, MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS, AND OTHER BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT. VGS SUCCESSFULLY PLACED 221 INDIVIDUALS INTO COMPETITIVE EMPLOYMENT. IN 2021, 276 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED IN DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES PROGRAMS. OTHER SERVICES PROVIDED BY VGS IN 2021 INCLUDED ASSESSMENT, WORK ADJUSTMENT, SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAMING, EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS, JOB PLACEMENT SERVICES, CASE MANAGEMENT, AND OTHER SPECIALIZED SERVICES. VGS AND ITS AFFILIATES PROVIDED COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES IN 26 COUNTIES THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF OHIO. THE TOP REFERRAL SOURCES FOR VGS INCLUDED OHIO DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, OPPORTUNITIES FOR OHIOANS WITH DISABILITIES, VETERANS ADMINISTRATION AND BUREAU OF WORKERS' COMPENSATION - MANAGED CARE ORGANIZATIONS. VGS ALSO PARTNERED WITH A VARIETY OF OTHER GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, CORPORATIONS, AND SOCIAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS TO ASSIST INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES AND OTHER BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT TO CHANGE LIVES AND STRENGTHEN THE COMMUNITY. IN 2021, VGS CONTINUED TO FACE ISSUES WITH THE PANDEMIC WITH INDIVIDUAL STILL RELUCTANT TO RETURNING TO SERVICES. IN 2020, VGS PROVIDED PAID WORK EXPERIENCE TO 534 PARTICIPANTS. IN TOTAL, VGS AND ITS AFFILIATES PROVIDED 281,791 HOURS OF WORK EXPERIENCE WHICH EQUATED TO $4.5 MILLION IN WAGES PAID TO OHIOANS.
