EPIC-AFRICA SEEKS TO ENHANCE PHILANTHROPIC IMPACT BY FILLING CRITICAL DATA AND CAPACITY GAPS IN THE PHILANTHROPIC MARKET INFRASTRUCTURE IN AFRICA. WE DO THIS THROUGH VARIOUS PROGRAM ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDE COMPILING AND SHARING DATA ABOUT AFRICAN CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS (CSOS) -WHO THEY ARE, WHAT THEY DO, WHERE, HOW AND THEIR IMPACT, AS WELL AS THEIR ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY IN DIMENSIONS SUCH AS STRATEGIC ABILITY AND ADAPTABILITY, LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE AND FINANCIAL HEALTH AND MANAGEMENT. EPIC-AFRICA ALSO PROVIDES CAPACITY BUILDING AND ADVISORY SERVICES TO CSOS AND FUNDERS, RESPECTIVELY.

TO ENCOURAGE EFFECTIVE EVALUATIONS AND DATA SURVEYS OF


EPIC-AFRICA IMPLEMENTS ONE INTEGRATED PROGRAM WITH VARIOUS ACTIVITIES. HIGHLIGHTS OF PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2021 INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: COMPLETION OF A CONTINENT-WIDE MAPPING OF AFRICAN CSOS WORKING ON ECONOMIC JUSTICE ISSUES THAT BEGAN IN 2020 AND THE DISSEMINATION OF THE ENSUING REPORT. COMPLETION OF THE MAPPING OF CSOS IN CTE DIVOIRE, SENEGAL AND ZAMBIA;COMPLETION OF OUR SECOND CONTINENT-WIDE SURVEY ON THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON AFRICAN CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS AND THE LAUNCH OF THE ENSUING REPORT.COMPLETED THE DESIGN PHASE OF THE AFRICA CSO PLATFORM, ENTAILING RESEARCH, INTELLIGENCE GATHERING AND STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATIONS. THE PLATFORM IS MEANT TO INCREASE THE VISIBILITY OF AFRICAN CSOS, MAKING IT EASIER FOR FUNDERS TO FIND, LEARN ABOUT, AND CONNECT WITH CSOS AND ALSO ENABLE CSOS THEMSELVES TO CONNECT WITH EACH OTHER. UNDERLYING THE PLATFORM IS A GROWING DATABASE OF CSOS (CURRENTLY 6,000+) FROM MORE THAN 40 AFRICAN COUNTRIES. COMPLETION OF CAPACITY BUILDING ASSISTANCE TO A LEADING PAN-AFRICAN CHILD-FOCUSED MOVEMENT TO ELABORATE AND LAUNCH A NEW FUNDRAISING AND PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PLAN.
