THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO ACHIEVE INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION OF THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SARGASSO SEA AND TO DEVELOP PROTECTION MEASURES FOR IT THROUGH COMPETENT REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS.

CONTINUE TO WORK WITH THE TEN GOVERNMENTS THAT HAVE SIGNED THE 2014 HAMILTON DECLARATION ON COLLABORATION FOR THE CONSERVATION OF THE SARGASSO SEA, NAMELY, THE AZORES, BAHAMAS, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS, BERMUDA, CANADA, CAYMAN ISLANDS, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, MONACO, UK AND US; 2. CONTINUED RESEARCH COLLABORATION WITH THE STANDING COMMITTEE ON RESEARCH AND STATISTICS (SCRS) OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION ON CONSERVATION OF ATLANTIC TUNAS (ICCAT) AND OTHER COMPETENT ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING NORTH-WEST FISHERIES ORGANIZATION (NAFO). 3. NEGOTIATED AND FINALIZED AN MOU WITH THE NORTH-WEST FISHERIES ORGANIZATION (NAFO) IN SEPTEMBER 2023. 4. CO-SPONSORED A WORKSHOP ON PARTICULARLY SENSITIVE SEA AREAS (PSSAS) WITH THE INTERNATIONAL MARITIME ORGANIZATION (IMO) (11/13/23 - 11/15/23). 5. SPONSORED A MAJOR CONFERENCE ON HIGH SEAS ECOSYSTEMS IN THE UNIVERSITY OF EDINBURGH (10/09/23 - 10/12/23).
