THE HEAT ORGANIZATION RECEIVED A GRANT TO PARTICIPATE IN EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES RELATED TO AVOIDING DISEASE AND PREGNANCY TRAINING (ADAPT) PROJECT FOR THE 5TH AND FINAL YEAR OF THE GRANT. THE ORGANIZATION SERVED NUMEROUS YOUTH AND SOME RELATED ADULTS. THE HEAT ORGANIZATION ALSO SUCCESSFULLY INCORPORATED COMMUNITY EVENTS DURING IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROGRAM. THE EVENTS INCLUDED (1) NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AT DECATUR HOUSING AUTHORITY, (2) BACK TO SCHOOL READINESS EVENT THAT CONSISTED OF INFORMING PARENTS WHAT THEY CAN DO TO GET THEIR CHILDREN READY FOR SCHOOL, (3) TEEN HEALTH COUNCIL RECRUITMENT, (4) MOVIE NIGHT, (5) YOUTH SUMMIT, (6) T-SHIRT DESIGNING CONTEST AT EACH SITE, (7) COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENTS, (8) PARENT INFORMATIONAL FORMS, (9) STUDENT TALENT EXPOSURE, (10) JOB RECRUTIMENT FAIR, (11) TAKING A STAND AGAINST TEEN VIOLENCE, (12) PARENT & COMMUNITY RRESOURCE MEETING, AND (13) STUDENT GRADUATION CEREMONIES. THE GRANT FUNDING ENDED THIS YEAR AND THE ORGANIZATON CEASED TO OPERATE.
