THE LITERACY LAB PROVIDES STUDENTSIN COMMUNITIES EXPERIENCING RACIAL AND/OR ECONOMIC INEQUITIESWITH EVIDENCE-BASED, CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE LITERACY INSTRUCTION AS PREPARATION FOR ACADEMIC, PROFESSIONAL, AND PERSONAL SUCCESS.

THE LITERACY LAB SERVES CHILDREN FROM AGE THREE THROUGH GRADE THREE. WE PARTNER WITH SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO HELP CLOSE THE LITERACY GAP LARGELY BY EMBEDDING FULL-TIME, RIGOROUSLY-TRAINED TUTORS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTERS AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.THE LITERACY LAB OFFERS PROGRAM SERVICES WHICH INCLUDE: SCHOOL DAY LITERACY INTERVENTION, THE LEADING MEN FELLOWSHIP, AND A FAMILY LITERACY PROGRAM FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES. IN FY 2022, THE ORGANIZATION SERVED OVER 5,200 CHILDREN IN WASHINGTON, DC; ALEXANDRIA, VA; BALTIMORE, MD; KANSAS CITY, MO, RICHMOND, VA, SPRINGFIELD, MA, AND MILWAUKEE, WI.
