OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH VARIOUS EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES. TURN THE TOWNS TEAL IS A NATIONAL OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAM BROUGHT TO DELAWARE BY THE DOCF IN 2015. DOCF VOLUNTEER TEAMS, INCLUDING GIRL SCOUT TROOPS, MAKE LARGE TEAL BOWS WHICH ARE DISPLAYED ON LAMP POSTS, FENCES AND OTHER LOCATIONS IN TOWNS THROUGHOUT THE THREE COUNTIES IN DELAWARE. IN 2023, EIGHT TOWNS AND CITIES IN DELAWARE WERE DECORATED WITH THESE TEAL BOWS. THIS ACTIVITY SPREADS AWARENESS TO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DURING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, WHICH IS NATIONAL OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS MONTH. THE COST OF THIS PROGRAM IS LOW, LIMITED TO THE BOW MATERIALS. ANOTHER EVENT THAT PROMOTES AWARENESS IS THE DOCF TEAL RIBBON 5K RUN-WALK TO FIGHT OVARIAN CANCER WHICH IN 2023 WAS HELD DURING SEPTEMBER. DURING THIS DOCF 5K EVENT, WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS, ALONG WITH BUSINESSES AND THEIR CUSTOMERS, WERE MADE AWARE OF THIS DEADLY WOMEN'S DISEASE THROUGH THE DOCF WEBSITE, THE DOCF FACEBOOK PAGE, AND THE DOCF 5K RUN/WALK WEBSITE.
