THE INSTITUTE FOR INCLUSION IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION ("IILP") IS THE LEGAL PROFESSION'S LEADING DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION ("DEI") THINK TANK. SINCE 2009, IILP HAS PROVIDED THE PROFESSION WITH A UNIQUE SET OF EMPIRICAL TOOLS TO FACILITATE A MORE DIVERSE, EQUITABLE, AND INCLUSIVE LEGAL PROFESSION THAT IS REFLECTIVE OF THE SOCIETY WHICH IT SERVES. WIDELY RECOGNIZED AS THE AUTHORITATIVE SOURCE FOR THE DEI IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION, IILP'S INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, RESEARCH, AND PUBLICATIONS INSPIRE THE PROFESSION TO THINK ABOUT, AND APPROACH, ITS PERSISTENT DEI CHALLENGES IN NEW WAYS.

IILP EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS - DURING 2023, THE INSTITUTE FOR INCLUSION IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION PRESENTED NUMEROUS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS INCLUDING (1) ITS HISTORY AND HERITAGE MONTH WEBINAR SERIES, EIGHT WEBINARS THAT OFFERED INFORMATION AND INSIGHTS THAT ALLOW ALL MEMBERS OF THE PROFESSION TO THINK AND ACT IN CREATIVE AND CRITICAL WAYS TO CREATE A MORE INCLUSIVE PROFESSION, (2) A LAW SCHOOL COURSE AT LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGO SCHOOL THAT EXAMINES DEI EFFORTS BY THE LEGAL PROFESSION AS PART OF A LAWYER'S PROFESSIONAL AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, AND (3) IILP'S SOCIAL IMPACT INCUBATOR, A TRAINING PROGRAM FOR MILLENNIAL/GEN Z LAWYERS DESIGNED TO HELP THEM BECOME THE NEXT GENERATION OF THOUGHT LEADERS ON DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION AND TO PROVIDE THEM WITH WRITING AND PUBLIC SPEAKING EXPERIENCE. WE ALSO SPENT SUBSTANTIAL TIME DEVELOPING NEW EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS SUCH AS AM I A "WHITE WOMAN?" WORKSHOPS FOR WOMEN LAWYERS THAT EMPOWER WOMEN TO BE MORE AUTHENTIC WOMEN IN THEIR LAW PRACTICES AND IN THEIR LIVES AND REINVENTING MASCULINITY, WHICH WILL EXPLORE HOW TO INTEGRATE CONVENTIONAL AND EMERGING VERSIONS OF MASCULINITY FOR GREATER PERSONAL HAPPINESS, IMPROVED PERFORMANCE AND MORE INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP.


RESEARCH, THOUGHT LEADERSHIP, AND PUBLICATIONS


EXTERNAL - EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IILP COMMITS SUBSTANTIAL RESOURCES TO AMPLIFYING AND MAXIMIZING THE WORK OF BAR ASSOCIATIONS, NONPROFITS, LAW SCHOOLS, AND LAW DEPARTMENTS TO ADVANCE SHARED GOALS FOR GREATER DEI IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION. IN 2023, IILP STAFF PRESENTED TO, ADVISED, AND COLLABORATED WITH MORE THAN 20 ORGANIZATIONS.


IN RESPONSE TO DEMAND, THE INSTITUTE FOR INCLUSION IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION CONTINUED TO TAKE ON DISCRETE CONSULTING WORK TO HELP LEGAL ORGANIZATIONS BECOME MORE DIVERSE, EQUITABLE, AND INCLUSIVE.
