THE MISSION OF THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA TRIBAL COURT COALITION IS TO PROMOTE AND STRENGTHEN TRIBAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS TO RESTORE BALANCE AND ORDER IN OUR COMMUNITIES, WHILE HONORING SOVEREIGNTY AND CULTURAL VALUES

SELF-HELP RESOURCES FOR TRIBAL POPULATIONS PROGRAM: CONTINUED DEVELOPING A MOBILE SELF-HELP APPLICATION FOR VICTIMS OF CRIME (FUNDED BY THE CALIFORNIA GOVERNORS OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES) AND TRAINED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATES AND VICTIM SERVICE PROVIDERS ON THAT APP. DURING THE 2020-2021 FISCAL YEAR THE APP WAS DOWNLOADED 300 TIMES AND 489 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED TRAINING. THE ORGANIZATION MAINTAINED A DATABASE OF SELF-HELP INFORMATION AND TRIBAL COURT FORMS TO ASSIST TRIBAL COMMUNITY MEMBERS, ADVOCATES, AND SERVICE PROFESSIONALS. COLLATED AND DISSEMINATED COVID-19 SELF-HELP INFORMATION FOR TRIBAL MEMBERS TO KNOW HOW TO ACCESS TRIBAL COURTS DURING COVID-19, ACCESS VACCINATIONS, AND REDUCE RISKS. DURING THIS REPORTING PERIOD APPROXIMATELY 3,000 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED INFORMATION TO HELP THEM HOW TO ACCESS THEIR ACCESS VACCINATIONS, AND REDUCE RISKS. DURING THIS REPORTING PERIOD APPROXIMATELY 3,000 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED INFORMATION TO HELP THEM HOW TO ACCESS THEIR TRIBAL COURTS DURING COVID-19.


RIGHTS OF MOTHER EARTH PROGRAM: ADVOCATED FOR TRIBAL FOOD SOVEREIGNTY BY HOSTING A CONFERENCE FOR 255 COMMUNITY MEMBERS, CONVENED AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF 3 TRIBAL MEMBERS WHO MET MONTHLY BETWEEN MARCH AND SEPTEMBER 2021, CONDUCTED AN ASSESSMENT ON THE IMPACT OF COVID ON TRIBAL FOOD SOVEREIGNTY BY SURVEYING 212 INDIVIDUALS AND PRODUCING A REPORT CONTAINING THE RESULTS OF OUR ASSESSMENT.


INTERTRIBAL APPELLATE COURT PROGRAM: MAINTAINED A POOL OF APPELLATE JUSTICES TO HEAR APPEALS FROM OUR MEMBER TRIBAL COURTS. OVER THE COURSE OF THE 2020-2021 FISCAL YEAR 4 CASES WERE REFERRED TO THE APPELLATE COURT FROM NCTCCS MEMBER TRIBES.

PURPOSE: To fund an intertribal project that uses Indigenous humanities content to support healing. Collaborating with Indigenous focus groups, tribal advocates, and victim service providers, NCTCC will identify, collect, and curate a collection of identity-based, cultural wellness materials so that Native victims of violence, their families, and their advocates can access culturally appropriate methods of trauma recovery, healing, and wellness. Tribes impacted are the Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria; Cher-ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria; Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation; Yurok Tribe; Karuk Tribe; and Hoopa Valley Tribe.
